Rising Stars: Meet Morghan Borders

Today we’d like to introduce you to Morghan Borders.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I became a freelance makeup artist in 2018. While I had grown in my own personal makeup skills, doing makeup on others was definitely a learning curve! Having friends and family that trusted my skills and had faith in my potential, has truly helped me get to where I am now.

Over the past 3 years, I have had the opportunity to be a part of the West 18th Street, Kansas City Plus Sized, 18K Gold, Heartland International, and Fashion Honors Autism fashion shows.

Many ask what my goals are as a makeup artist, and where I see myself in the coming years. In all honesty, sometimes I truly don’t know! The passion I have for makeup grew over time, and I’m constantly finding new things I love about it, and want to explore.

I have, however, found a true love in bridal makeup! My focus this year and moving forward will be to perfect my craft as a Bridal MUA.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Learning how to work on different skin types, textures, and tones was definitely a challenge at first. Imagine trying to color match with no real lighting, in a kitchen chair, working out of a small makeup case train case! It was an obstacle to say the least, but not one too big to overcome!

Nothing that you truly want in life will be easy. When you pursue your dreams, there will be a lot of second guessing and comparing yourself to others, but I’m here to tell you to get out of your head! The hardest part is trusting yourself and not giving up.

Overall, I have had a great journey becoming the Makeup Artist I want to be, and I can’t thank my clientele enough for always trusting and supporting me!

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As a freelance Makeup artist, I work with many different clients, providing a fun, and engaging glamour experience to beautify them for special events such as birthdays, weddings, etc.

I specialize in bridal makeup, but can achieve many different looks based on my client’s needs.

I am known for giving my clients a natural, lightweight glam look that lasts all day.

I am most proud of my progress overall as a makeup artist. Like any passion, hobby or career, continuing to educate yourself is major. By continuing to see myself as a student, I am able to continue learning new ways to provide an even better experience for my clients.

My personality sets me apart from others. Aside from my ability to create a soft & natural glam look for my clients, I enjoy setting a vibe for them too. Music is playing when my client arrives and during the service. It’s low enough to encourage a conversation, loud enough to fill any awkward silence, and often times a conversation start in itself! A candle is always burning to add to the experience, and usually seasonal!

Do you any memories from childhood that you can share with us?
My favorite childhood memory would be our 4th of July family gatherings! My birthday is July 3rd, so I’ve always been able to celebrate my birthday with my whole family!
