Daily Inspiration: Meet Chelsey Harvey

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chelsey Harvey.

Hi Chelsey, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
The Party Edit KC really started long before it had a name. I was an elementary teacher, and one of my favorite parts of the job was creating that magic in the classroom for my littles—turning everyday moments into something exciting, immersive, and memorable. Whether it was themed learning days, celebrations, or just adding those extra special touches, I loved seeing their faces light up.

That passion naturally followed me home. I started doing the same for my own kids—creating thoughtful, detail-filled celebrations that felt meaningful and fun. Friends and family began asking for help with their parties, and before I knew it, it grew into something bigger.

Now, The Party Edit KC is all about “editing your party details to perfection”—creating elevated, stress-free celebrations for families while still keeping that sense of fun and wonder at the center of it all. It’s been such a natural evolution from where I started, and it’s really become a blend of my background in education, my love for kids, and my passion for design.

I’m sure it wasn’t obstacle-free, but would you say the journey has been fairly smooth so far?
Not at all—and a big part of that has been balancing a lot at once.

Right now, I’m helping run an early learning center full-time, which is already a role that requires so much energy, organization, and heart. On top of that, I’m a full-time mom, and then The Party Edit KC comes to life in all the in-between moments—late nights after my kids are in bed, early mornings, and weekends spent curating, creating, and installing events.

There have definitely been moments where it feels like a lot to carry—juggling schedules, meeting deadlines, and trying to give 100% in every area. But it’s also been incredibly worth it.

Every challenge has shaped The Party Edit KC into what it is today. Each event has taught me something—how to refine my processes, elevate my designs, and better serve families. And the rewarding moments, like seeing a child’s face light up or a parent feel completely at ease on party day, make it all worth it.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
At The Party Edit KC, I specialize in elevated children’s events that feel intentional, cohesive, and completely stress-free for families. I offer full-service party planning and styling—from balloon installations and backdrops to invitations, favors, and all the small details that bring a theme to life. Whether it’s a custom balloon arch, a styled dessert table, or a full event concept, my goal is to take a vision and edit it to perfection.

I’m especially known for my balloon work and clean, high-end aesthetic—organic arches, layered color palettes, and setups that feel polished but still playful. I love creating designs that photograph beautifully while still feeling magical and fun for kids.

What I’m most proud of is the experience I create for families. I know firsthand how much goes into planning a party, and I take a lot of pride in being able to step in and make that process feel easy and enjoyable. Seeing parents actually present and soaking in the moment with their kids—that’s everything to me.

What really sets me apart is my background in education. I don’t just design something that looks good—I think about how it feels for the kids experiencing it. I naturally build in elements of wonder, interaction, and excitement, just like I did in the classroom. It’s that blend of thoughtful design, attention to detail, and understanding of what truly makes kids light up that makes The Party Edit KC unique.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to stay grounded in my why.

I started The Party Edit KC because of my family—those little moments at home, creating magic for my own kids, are what sparked all of this. And as the business has grown, it’s been really important for me to remember that they’re not just the beginning of the story… they’re still the reason behind everything I do.

At the end of the day, this business exists because of my family—and I want to make sure it always supports them, not takes away from them. That perspective has shaped every decision I make and continues to guide how I grow The Party Edit KC.
