Today we’d like to introduce you to Love, Mae C.
Hello Love, Mae C., thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as young girl writing poetry with this growing passion for music. I grew up in choirs from grade school to high school and also began writing music and performing as a freshman. I’m inspired by various greats from Whitney Houston, Prince & Michael Jackson. I would study clips of these artists practicing, recording, and performing in studios and stages. I was inspired by Billy Holiday Diana Ross and Aretha Franklin and how these women could create experiences of their voices, their presence and music.
I began to pursue my career as an independent artist in 2016 when I released my first Ep album “Warning Signs of True Love”. Later in January 2017 I released my hit single “Anxious” the song caught so much attention, radios around the world including Kansas City’s own Hot 103 Jamz began to play the record. Over time I’ve performed in cities all across America while creating and writing for my next project to release.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have faced many obstacles through my journey as a singer/songwriter, and independent artist. I have managed most of my career on my own and being able to carry my product and career like a label is not easy. But I have a passion and studied production and creative direction, and fashion, in order to develop the brand Love, Mae C. is. But the things that I’ve had to face is wearing too many hats as an artist we like to control a lot of what we are creating which is not the issue but it’s knowing when to ask for help and step back and be the artist, however over time I have developed a team that has allowed me to be the artist that I’ve become today.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a singer/songwriter, creative director, and producer. I’m known for my angelic voice, my style.
I’m most proud of how far I’ve come as a Music artist and what I continue to create.
What sets me apart from others is my love and passion for music and the community that is built around it.
