Today we’d like to introduce you to Danielle Paustian.
Hi Danielle, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
For the last four years, I had been an EMT in Omaha, NE. I grew up in Lawrence, KS. My family was residing in Bellevue, NE, a suburb of Omaha on Military orders for the Army for who is now, unfortunately my soon to be ex-husband of 15 years. What brought us back to the area was my medical condition called Myasthenia Gravis. We had put in what’s called a Compassionate Care assignment with the Army and was granted to move “home” to be seen at KU Med.
Once we were approved, I had spoken to my current employer Midwest Medical Transport about a transfer. I was set to become the Assistant Manager of the Kansas City Station. Due to unfortunate circumstances due to working conditions at that station, I resigned. Due to the safety and working conditions and no job lined up but also feeling the healthcare burnout after deploying to NYC with FEMA during the pandemic and the hardships of COVID last year altogether. I wanted to find my own income, be my own boss but be able to have a schedule that best worked with my children and their needs now that I was becoming a single mother of two. I had been wanting to start a Pressure Washing business but due to moving every couple years was afraid to start something over each time we had to start over in a new city. I thought coming back home would be the perfect opportunity. This is my first year in business and been having a blast doing it. It has been a rollercoaster of a ride since moving back “home” in Jan of this year but one thing I can say that is mine and that I’ve worked hard for is creating Paustian Powerwash, seeing my clients reactions when completed has been the best part of it all!
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
It definitely has not been a smooth road but I believe our struggles make us stronger. I have resigned from my career in Jan in EMS, bought a house with my husband of 15 years to be left six weeks after buying our home here. Not only mending my own heart after such events and trying to make ends meet for me and my two children Sylas (12) and Ayda (11). They are my world and what keeps my drive for the business going. I do it for them.
Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I own and operate a Pressure Washing Company. I specialize in Residential and Commercial Exterior Cleaning Services, the removal of organic and non-organic matter from residential and commercial properties. The number one thing I am proud of is my children. Professionally, I think it would be my determination to make a dream a reality while going through hardships and being a woman in an industry primarily ran by men. To not listen to those who said, maybe I shouldn’t because of being a woman.
What are your plans for the future?
My plans are to continue to build my relationship in the community and help assist homeowners and business owners keep our cities a little cleaner. I look forward to growing and healing on my new journey professionally and privately with my two amazing kids and set an example for them.
