Meet Taj Brimmer

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taj Brimmer.

Hi Taj, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
Ambitious young woman born and raised in Kansas City, KS, with dreams of becoming a professional dancer. As a kid, I would perform talent shows on the fireplace for my family. Bringing everyone together to see the latest routine I choreographed! Got involved with All-Star Cheerleading at a young age and thrived at competitions. Enjoyed the process of learning routines, sharpening tumble passes, and performing! After cheering for two years in college, my heart still had the desire to dance.

A girlfriend of mine introduced me to Jashawn Walker and my life pivoted in the right direction. Every week I was dedicated to taking heels classes, learning fundamentals, and growing within the Kansas City dance community. Met plenty of talented individuals and performed alongside respected creatives. Dance has truly served as a form of therapy; it’s allowed me to take a step back from reality and simply feel.

Fast forward to now, we are humbly ambitious. Great things are sparking up in the background, excited for the future and new opportunities turning dreams into reality…

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Smooth road? Absolutely not! Of course, you run into bumps, detours, and inclement weather along the way. Every experience I have been through (good, bad, indifferent) taught valuable life lessons. Growing pains are real, it’s not always butterflies and sunny skies. In those moments I lean on my faith, remind myself I am more than a conqueror. This too shall pass. Joy will come in the morning! What’s a flower without water?

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Currently working at Athletico Physical Therapy full-time as an Office Coordinator. Outside of the clinic, I am more than likely dancing in my room, working out around my neighborhood, or at the thrift store.

Do you have recommendations for books, apps, blogs, etc.?
Yes, there’s an app called Forest I absolutely love. You set a timer to lock your phone, once you set the time; a tree will grow during the allotted time designated. After you grow so many trees you will have then accumulated a forest. From there, the forest can be cashed in for a tree seed to be planted overseas. Forest collaborated with Trees For The Future to give users a delightful experience while keeping the environment green. Would highly recommend Forest, it has helped increase my productivity tremendously!
