Meet Rob Garwitz of Halo + Cleaver

Today we’d like to introduce you to Rob Garwitz.

Rob, we appreciate you taking the time to share your story with us today. Where does your story begin?
Matt and I started Halo + Cleaver with a vision to clean up America’s favorite condiments with low sugar, fruit-sweetened alternatives. As two guys from the Midwest, we loved BBQ and burgers.

But, we are also pretty health-conscious and realized that most conventional BBQ sauces and ketchup are packed with sugar and artificial ingredients. That’s where Halo + Cleaver came in – we make delicious low-sugar sauces that are sweetened with fruit like apples and pineapples!

We started with humble beginnings offering our products at local shops, and farmers’ markets, and bringing our sauces to local gyms. We’re now in 700+ stores with a growing online business as well.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Launching and growing Halo + Cleaver has been a wild ride. There have been highs and lows. Covid and recent macro-economic conditions have created challenges for emerging brands like ours, but we see every challenge as an opportunity to get ahead of the competition.

There are hard days for sure, but Matt and I wake up every day driven by our mission to make people’s lives a little better one bottle of sauce at a time.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Halo + Cleaver?
Halo + Cleaver is one of the only food companies that sweeten its sauces with fruit like apples, pineapples, and even bananas!

What matters most to you? Why?
We care deeply about our mission to inspire current and future generations to live healthier and more fulfilled lives. We built a brand that doesn’t take itself too seriously and appeals to families. The idea that our Perfect Ketchup is on kids’ plates around the country replacing other sugar-laden ketchup is what it’s all about for us – bringing families together around healthy and delicious food.
