Today we’d like to introduce you to Melissa Windon. Them and their team share their story with us below:
Driving Pursuits KC was founded in 2018 by Melissa Windon and Gretchen Hayes with one goal: to give women a fun and comfortable environment to learn golf. Driving Pursuits KC provides its female executive members and exclusive golfing experience where they can learn practical skills and general knowledge in an encouraging, no-threatening environment to effectively play the game of golf. Golf affords the members the potential to grow new business opportunities and maintain current relationships.
In its first season in 2019, DPKC had 11 members and has now grown to over 30 supportive, highly-motivated women!
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Like many others, our largest challenge was having to postpone our 2020 season due to COVID. We couldn’t be happier to be back on the course!
We’ve been impressed with Driving Pursuits KC, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?

Golf gives the members the potential to grow new business opportunities and maintain current relationships.
Members of Driving Pursuits KC develop great relationships on and off the golf course while learning the basic skills of golf: grip, swing, putt, and more. For those that have tried the sport but convinced themselves they’re “horrible”, our group will start with support and encourage them to keep practicing and keep showing up at the course. We use fitness and biomechanics to better their golf game through TPI assessments. Off the green, our members also learn complete course etiquette, including cart tips and tournament rules.
The program also provides its members Golf Mentors, who teach the value of the game. These women, successful in the office and on the green, help our members understand how golf impacted their professional careers and the opportunities it has afforded them. Our members revel in their success stories and learn from the adversaries they’ve faced.
At the end of each lesson, we enjoy appetizers and drinks at the course in order to further the relationships between our members! Our 12 lesson season ends with an end of season 18 hole scramble. We host events throughout the year for former, current and prospective Driving Pursuits KC members and are actively looking to connect with new like-minded females in the Kansas City community.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
