Meet Meghan Jaskinia of Healthy and Happy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Meghan Jaskinia.

Hi Meghan, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
My passion for coaching women to become their own health and happiness advocates began from my path to becoming my own. My interest in eating well started during my days of chasing the desire of being skinny. Unfortunately, that path had me in a vicious cycle of disordered eating. I was constantly trying a new diet. I was restricting food. I became fearful of food that may keep me from my desire to lose weight. Disordered eating was then mixed with trying to run my way to my dream skinny self by running 15 half marathons and a full marathon in five years. The cherry on top of my unconscious toxic way of living was excessive drinking.

I was in my mid-twenties feeling extremely lost, trying to have a successful career, and struggling to reach the life I wanted to live. Then I was forced to reevaluate everything. One day I noticed tingling in my hands and feet. Within a couple of short weeks, I had lost motor function in my left hand. An MRI showed a lesion in my cervical spine, and my stomach dropped. The doctor proceeded to tell me that the only possibilities were Multiple Sclerosis (MS) or a gliamoa (cancer).

My life quickly filled with doctor visits, blood work, a spinal tap, more MRIs, a CAT scan, more consultations with specialists. All roads lead to a dead end. Every test showed that I was a “healthy” individual yet I was still experiencing symptoms. With no answers and running out of options for testing, I decided to take matters into my own hands.

With an interest in healthy eating, I decided to become my own experiment and completely fuel my body with the good stuff. I ate foods that would make my body healthier. I researched what food may minimize my symptoms. I greatly decreased how much I was drinking. I zoned in on gaining my health back. I never looked back at the approaches I once took to be skinny.

Within a month, I reversed my symptoms and an MRI showed the lesion shrinking in size. A month later I became pregnant with our son. This journey led me to becoming a health coach because I wanted others to feel empowered to take control of their health. Being frustrated that health coaching wasn’t taking off how I wanted it to, it took the back burner when we had our daughter and found ourselves in a global pandemic.

After several months of being a mom to two littles, working from home, and facing a global crisis, I found myself deep in late-onset postpartum depression. It was time to fight again. However, this time, I wasn’t fighting to gain my health back, I was fighting to gain my happiness back.

I zoned in on healing past traumas, breaking down barriers of old mindsets and damaged body image. I did whatever I could to rebuild my self-worth and my confidence. I did what I needed to show up not only for my family but for the first time, myself. I decided that a major block was that I wasn’t in a career that was fulfilling, I wasn’t living in my dharma. My dream of building the company I desire began with health coaching and it was time to get back on that path.

This led me to where I am today. Showing women the importance of balancing the scales between their health and happiness. Taking away the pressure of how they look and putting very strong importance on how they FEEL.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Not at all. I have crashed and burned several times throughout the last few years. However, I now see it was exactly what I needed to lead me exactly to where I needed to be. Programs failed to take off. I lost motivation. Many times it felt easier to just give up and put my dreams on the back burner. Building your dream company comes with failure. Ultimately that is how you learn and grow and continue to level up towards your dream. I first pursued building my company knowing I would have to teach myself many of the aspects of owning a business. I was not aware of the immense amount of personal growth it was going to take in order to get there. I have had to make myself extremely vulnerable and open my eyes to what was holding me back to reaching my goals.

Healthy and Happy gives women a new approach to reaching their health goals like never before.

My 1:1 Coaching is my 10-week program that teaches women how to become their own health and happiness advocates. This is for women who are ready to take a deep dive into their journey and would like something designed specifically for them and their needs. They are ready to have an advocate that is there to hold them accountable for building their confidence in trusting themselves above all else.

Healthy and Happy with Ease is my 10-week course that is for women who are ready to break up with dieting and restricting food. They are ready to discover a much simpler way to balance the scales between their health and happiness. They want to take away the confusion of right and wrong and claim what is best for them.

Each program is designed to meet women exactly where they are at. Each step is gradual and realistic for their specific circumstances. I do not create quick fixes, I lead women to long-lasting changes that create freedom and peace in their journey. They will learn how to eat healthier while still loving what they eat. They will learn how to design an approach that makes them FEEL their healthiest and happiest.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success is the ability to bring yourself into a feel good state even after the most difficult challenges. By living your dream life without sacrificing your wellbeing in the process. A life that truly brings you happiness and fulfillment. Success comes with you reach your goals while also evolving into an even better version of yourself.
