Meet Lindsey Ryan

Today we’d like to introduce you to Lindsey Ryan.

Hi Lindsey, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
Sewing was just a hobby for me until I discovered The Sewing Labs, a non-profit that teaches the sewing skill for employment and enrichment. It was there that I not only improved my skill but developed the confidence to become an entrepreneur and start my own cut and sew production company, KC Sewing, LLC. I was a highlighted sewist in The Sewing Labs first annual fundraiser, Makin’ HERstory, back in May 2021, and I was able to boost my company early into my launch and quickly gained lots of clients.

KC Sewing is a cut and sew contracting service that focuses on locally-based homemade companies. We help our fellow local creative businesses produce their goods so they can focus on growing their business. We have worked with numerous clients since our launch and have produced a variety of homemade goods ranging from dog toys to handbags to hats and headwear and anything in between.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Every new business has struggles that just come with the territory. That being said, the biggest struggle my company has to overcome is finding enough time in the day to dedicate to each client. (but not complaining) When clients ask us to do more and more, that just means that our mission to help fellow local business grow is working.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
KC Sewing, LLC is a cut and sew contracting service that focuses on locally-based homemade companies. We help our fellow local creative businesses produce their goods so they can focus on growing their business. We pride ourselves in creating high-quality products at warehouse speeds while still being able to classify your goods as “homemade” from start to finish.

How do you think about happiness?
Creation is what makes me happy. The feeling one gets when you say, “Look what I made!”. It gives you the feeling of accomplishment and pride. I love crafting and creating goods for friends and family, and we get the exact same feeling when delivering products to our clients.
