Today we’d like to introduce you to Glen Cusimano and Gina Hoang.
Hi Glen and Gina, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
Meet Glen: “I started in the fitness industry in my early 20’s. My first job in the industry was training athletes for conditioning, in which some of them were boxers. Doing this, I took an interest in the boxing scene. I began training and became a professional boxer. I fought eight times and won six out of the eight fights. Unfortunately, due to a nagging injury, I had to retire the boxing life. I restarted personal training as a side gig while I worked a full-time construction job. My personal training clientele increased and I started focusing on training people full time. My passion for being fit was highly driven, and I just knew it was my calling. In 2019, I started an LLC called Full Throttle Fitness. When I began that, I was training out of several different gyms. In February of 2020, during the heart of the pandemic, my new fiancé and I took a leap of faith and invested into our own facility. The gym we purchased was already up and running with a clientele of less than 30 members. It was particularly a Cross-Fit facility and decided to spice it up and add HIIT style and boxing classes, sports performance with speed and agility, and one-on-one personal coaching with options for nutritional planning. Now I have my own gym to train my personal clients out of! Most of my clients have been very loyal and supportive of me and have followed me in my adventure of training locations. Due to Covid-19, the fluctuation of people coming and going varied as we struggled to stay afloat with all of the mandates required. However, it has almost been a year and we are succeeding and still giving it our very best! We have recently purchased new weights and offer top of the line air runners, assault bikes and rowers. Our goal is to make you feel incredible, physically & mentally.”
Meet Gina: “I’ve been in the medical field for over 16 years. Being in healthcare, I’ve always believed that I play a significant role in the world. I joined Glen at the gym full time just this past month. After being a nurse for many years, there were a few different reasons I decided to make a change. I wanted to strengthen my skillset, diversify my experience and help our business grow. Of course, there’s always a better work-life balance, but that was just the minimal satisfaction of the change. I became excited knowing that I will be facing a daily challenge with more academical issues. There was a shift into feeling myself becoming more self-empowered. Glen and I talked about me coming on full force and agreed that together we would thrive and prosper. We are both on the same level and understand that we have to have a full commitment to partnership, in and out of work. I don’t do any of the personal training or teach any of the classes at our business, but I am the face of all marketing ventures and business entrepreneurships. I do plan to become a trainer in the near future, as I would learn from the best, my amazing fiancé Glen!”
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Being that we pursued a facility right in the middle of Covid-19, I’d say no, it has not necessarily been a smooth road. However, things have been in our favor and we’ve managed to keep the business running. We have had a tremendous amount of support and ideas from our coaches, members, friends and family. With that, sometimes you can overcome any struggle!
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Full Throttle Fitness?
