Today we’d like to introduce you to Sarah Orozco.
Hi Sarah, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
When I was younger, I had a dream to become a fashion designer, specifically for plus-size women. At the time, I thought that was a silly idea because Lord knows I can barely even draw a stick figure. 🤣
I gave up on that for the time being.
Fast forward to five years ago, today, when I turned that silly idea into a reality. I was drowning in depression after losing my Mother and needed a way out. I needed to save myself, for myself, husband and my babies. We started out as an online boutique, went to painting furniture, Bath bombs, cups, vinyl work. Then one day #MrSunflower asked why didn’t I just stick to shirts since that’s what seemed to work best for us and the customers. So that’s what we did. I’m going to word it that way, I wouldn’t want him to think he was right. 🤣
Last fall, we were asked to participate in a show that I never dreamed my shirts would be good enough for, Vintage Market Days. We did the show and killed it. This show changed my whole view on my products and my abilities as an artist.
At the same time, we rolled out our Wholesale program with local boutiques and we haven’t slowed down since.
Then this last winter, I was able to quit my full-time job (never thought I would be able to do) and focus all my attention on growing TSM.
I need to thank all of you that have followed us through this journey. Likes, shares, purchases, referrals we wouldn’t have got this far without all of you.
Thank you to Maegan for being by my side and helping me grow this dream of mine. My family and friends for sharing, helping me at events (usually last minute) and cheering me on when I’ve wanted to give up.
Thank you to everyone that has cheered me on through my 200+ pound weight loss journey that I’ve shared with y’all. ❤
Just Thank You… to anyone that has believed in me.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
There are struggles in every business. I started with nothing, no help and the last $20 I had. I’m now at the point that myself and my husband could quit our full-time jobs.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
We are a female-owned family business. We bleach, print and press all of our shirts by hand.
How do you think about luck?
Bad luck, oversaturated market.
