Life & Work with Sang Thi Duong

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sang Thi Duong.

Alright, thank you for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us how you got started?
I have been writing since I was a little girl. It was a way for me to escape my “real” life world and create anything I wanted. Words are powerful, and it was something I learned from an early age. When you are little, you look up to your parents because they are your people, trust them, believe them, and look to them for love and confidence. My “real” world as a child was less than perfect, filled with hatred, physical, mental and emotional abuse, and racism. Being an Asian girl who lived in a small country Texas town who played basketball (and was good at it), I was bullied a lot. I chose to write because the words allowed me to create a world of positivity, love, and support no matter what. My writing was published in magazines. I won scholarships, and the dictionary and thesaurus my bibles. Words mattered to me, and I wanted the world to see how much power they had. After being a copywriter for many years, I transitioned to a life and business coach because I wanted to share what I had learned from the power of words. How words mold us, how they impact our decisions, how we use them in our daily life, and how they are embedded in our minds and our subconscious words have made us who we are.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not, what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
If anyone’s life has been a smooth road, let me meet them. HAHAHA! I work with a coach who is 71, and she is still going through things. We are constantly evolving and shifting our worlds with every interaction, every conversation, and every experience. My life was almost constantly filled with obstacles and struggles. As a single mother my entire life, there was always an obstacle bring pitched me my way. Add running a business to that and kids who were competitive in everything. The difference between me and my obstacles was that everything was figured routable. And there was always a light on the other side. The key is to take a moment to take a few deep breaths, remind yourself of your morals and values, and ask yourself, “If this is the worst thing that has happened to you today, is this a bad day?”. Always return to a place of gratitude and get re-grounded.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
If you were to meet me in person right now, I’d hug you and immediately start exciting you up and telling you how amazing you are because YOU ARE! I take great pride in showing you how to channel your inner badass and truly step into who you are. I am no newbie on the block when it comes to helping people create what they want more of. I have 11 years of experience as a Master Certified Life and Business Coach, helping thousands of men, women, and especially single mothers get more of what they want. When I am not the best hype woman, leading coaching sessions, teaching workshops around the globe, or finding another way to create an income stream. You can find me on a plane heading to a place where there are palm trees and a beach, spending time with my kids, my sister’s family, my brother’s family, working out at the local gym, or looking for a local bookstore to get lost in my thoughts.

I am a best-selling author, founder of a non-profit for single mothers, and entrepreneur who travels the world. I am on a personal mission to leave every person I encounter better than how they entered my life and help as many people as I can to leave a legacy for their families.

As a copywriter and marketing strategist, I have worked for six-figure, seven-figure, and eight-figure companies to create marketing strategies that exponentially increase revenue with unconventional marketing methods. Past clients include major brands like Pepsi and Delta, celebrity-driven brands like The Bachelor, fitness and wellness companies like Buti Yoga, entrepreneurs like Shontaye Hawkins Profit is the New Black™, and many more. I work with clients on all kinds of writing projects: websites, book editing, pageant platforms, educational programs, book proposals, full-length manuscripts, and beyond and most recently a 5th-grade grade living museum where the students made mini speeches about people in history. *so much fun.

I recently deleted all of my social media accounts, and my mantra is: “Everything happens exactly how it should” and “You are exactly where you should be”

Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
“Every master was once a disaster.” Everyone has started at ZERO. Don’t let the hype of social media mess with your head. You are going to have great days. You are going to have crappy days. You will have days where you are kicking – you know what – and taking names, and then there will be days when you want to eat a tub of ice cream crying in the closet. All of it is normal. Embrace where you are. Own who you are. Learn who you are and what you value, and get clear on what you want to achieve in life and business. And lastly, you are not alone. You can never do life wrong life is about experiences and how we navigate our way through every moment.
