Today we’d like to introduce you to Rosierra Warren-Thomas.
Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
My story starts simply enough in 2014 with a gum abscess (ouch), having a lack of healthcare options and a want to heal myself. After using essential oils to heal myself, I became immensely interested in natural medicine and herbal education. I’ve studied herbs and natural remedies for seven years now and with the information and knowledge I’ve gathered, I’ve pledged myself to create natural skin, hair, inside and outside body care that highlights each Herb and its uses. That might look like “Rose Butter” which is soft, light and feminine but rose is an anti-inflammatory herb, it decreases redness and acne stands no chance in the face of pure rose so while the client it’s getting this amazing skin product at the same time they’re also indulging into herbal and natural medicine. At this point, I am able to offer a variety of healing products and now we also offer a variety of our herbalism classes for the whole family. I would’ve never gotten here without the support of my community, the need for herbal education and the desire to share this amazing knowledge with others.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
When creating products especially holistic medicines and skincare you tend to strive for 1000% and with such a degree of perfection, I found myself constantly learning and keeping my education up to date to ensure I can provide the best of the and most effective products. The road to the top can twist. turn, and loop. What really matters is that you hold on and make it to your end goal. There have been challenges of securing traditional funding and your typical high interest loans and credit cards typically offered to young minorities, but with a plan and a real vision we are truly able to make anything happen for ourselves.
Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
As an eclectic Herbalist, I specialize in holistic whole body care and I am known as a medicine woman and a healer in my community. I started off making simple teas for common ailments like colds and upset stomachs and as I deepened my knowledge of the power of different herbs, it grew to an entire line of inside and outside care for the whole family. At first glance Nature Made Me may appear to be a skincare line or a beauty line but what sets me apart is the healing herbal medicine that is infused into each and every product. Right now, Kansas City is absolutely loving Fruity Tutti Tea an herbal and fruit tea I created as a multivitamin and hydration drink that could fool you into thinking you aren’t drinking tea at all. I love being able spread the message of natural healing to my community especially to those who have access to limited health care and knowing something in the pantry could potentially give a reprieve and so affordably is an honor in itself.
What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Be open to growth and new opportunities. As a small business owner and one of the first in my family, there are a lot of new things I’ve learned that no one could of foretold to me. Being open to change and new opportunities has helped me to navigate this journey with open eyes and be able to elevate because of it.
