Life & Work with Michael Schwally

Today we’d like to introduce you to Michael Schwally.

Hi Michael, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I first got interested in magic at seven years old when I received a magic set as a gift. From there, I checked out every book on the topic from my local library. I then discovered a professional magic shop and soon after started performing at kid’s birthday parties and similar events.

Fast forward to today, having served in the Air Force, spending over 20 years in sales in the car business… I have just recently decided to turn my full-time efforts to performing professionally.

Over the years, I have done numerous private shows as well as have performed in a few KC restaurants… But it was always just a sideline.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It hasn’t been too smooth, to be honest, mainly because of the timing with Covid-19 and all.

I am very hopeful though, people are ready to get out and be entertained… I think the timing is right for any type of entertainer/performer.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
Aside from the comedy magic that is geared for children, I also perform close-up, sleight of hand, which is what the adults really appreciate more.

This is magic that is done right up close, with ordinary objects like coins, rings, cards, rope, etc.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Different people will react and respond to the same circumstances in very different ways.
