Life & Work with Georgia Sears

Today we’d like to introduce you to Georgia Sears.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Started out a few years ago, five to be exact when I had a little guy I had via surrogate. I wanted to stay home but still needed and wanted a creative outlet but also make money. When he was a little over two, I decided to take my home cottage business to a full-blown bakery. I love retail so along with the bakery, I wanted to also have a boutique. Since it’s a small town, it’s easy to carry so many different things bc there is no one else like it in my town.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
A struggle is not exactly what I would say but it’s also not been smooth. I struggled with getting the construction completed when I thought it needed to be. 😊 Then we opened in November right before covid hit. So I was open for a few months but when the whole world shut down so did I in March. Then in April almost exactly seven years later and right after I turned 39, I was diagnosed with breast cancer again. So I stay closed while I did a majority of my treatment. Then I decided to open back up and try building this thing from the start again.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I started out doing custom sugar cookies. You know those crazy artistic cookies that are almost too pretty to eat? Yea, those but they taste really good so there’s that. I love doing them the most but I have branched out doing all kinds of baked goods. Muffins, cookies, scones, cinnamon rolls, custom cakes and so much more. With the boutique, I like to have an assortment of women’s clothing, home decor, and children’s toys and working on getting a kids clothing line in.

What do you like best about our city? What do you like least?
I love that there are so many things to do you don’t have to travel far to do them. I like the city but I’m a country girl at heart and live on a farm. But I love that I don’t have to go far to be in the city to do all the amazing things it has to offer.
