Life & Work with Demi Schulz

Today we’d like to introduce you to Demi Schulz.

Hi Demi, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I was born in Moldova, a small Eastern European country with kind people and amazing wineries. I have a bachelor’s in Marketing. I speak six languages. I moved to America a year ago. I chose this path because that’s all I know to do the best and I like to get lost in the service of others. I started my nail journey eight years ago and it became a real job in recent years. I am a perfectionist and a big critic.

The nail industry is underestimated in Kansas. The quality standards are low and most nail places are outdated and unsafe. This is a rapidly growing industry with huge potential; We can’t afford to use the old methods. That’s what I want to change. I want everyone in Kansas to feel safe when getting manicure/pedicure service. I want people to have a different experience than a traditional salon! I want to be the bridge between Europe and Kansas regarding trends and techniques. I have big plans for the community and I hope to bring a positive change to the industry.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
In my student years, I had to make enough money to live a decent life. I didn’t want to ask my parents. I always feel uncomfortable asking for money from others. I always worked two jobs. Weekend night shifts at the warehouse, school during the day, and nails in the afternoon. I think that was a real challenge but it was something I wanted to do. I had a goal in front of me and I knew this is the right thing to do. It helped me build discipline and save money.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I do gel nails with detailed cuticle work, also known as dry manicures. I am known for very detailed clean, qualitative work and intricate designs. Thanks to the technique I use, the manicure lasts 3-4 weeks and improves the health of the nails.

I am proud of every manicure I do. Every work is a part of me. I have a unique style because I use a European approach that is not well adopted in the United States. For example, I think I am the only one to use this method here in Kansas City.
