Today we’d like to introduce you to Dawn Higgins.
Hi Dawn, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always loved to learn more about someone’s story. My love of photography began when I browsed through all of my grandmother’s photo albums and heard all of the stories behind the images. I purchased a camera with a kit lens and began practicing capturing family in my images. My willing subjects started to grow into teenagers, and I needed to find a new audience to practice on.
Friends and family were willing and allowed me to grow as a photographer, always trying something new. I found that I really love portrait photography. Capturing a person or an entire family is a challenge and a reward at the same time. Preserving memories for future generations is a necessary bit of historic preservation, and I am absolutely honored when given a chance to do so.
Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Along the way, there are so many things to learn and it can be overwhelming to choose a specific niche that you want to focus on. Connection with my clients allows me to thrive. I love sending clients and their families away from our session with amazing images for them to display on their walls and enjoy for a lifetime.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Portrait Photography allows me to have a conversation with my client and lets me show them how I see them, allowing them to step outside of all of their insecurities and enjoy their time in front of the camera and feel beautiful!
