Life & Work with Chris Williams Jr.

Today we’d like to introduce you to Chris Williams Jr.

Hi Chris, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself
In 2017, My friend that’s like a blood brother to me was a YouTube vlogger at the time and I was around every other day but never wanted the camera pointed in my direction, so he told me that I needed to find something else that I was comfortable with that was going to be beneficial to the situation. I took a few photos for him on his phone which gave me the idea to go out and purchase my first camera which was a canon powershot sx530 hs, and once I picked the camera up, I never put it down. Fast forward time as I began to branch out shooting a lot on my own time, but I never took it serious until long after I would post my work on social media and actually paid attention to the feedback I was getting from people I didn’t know and other big photographers, etc. made me realize I can take this thing really far, so I started studying and practicing more to make myself better because there’s no shortcuts when it comes to photography so I’m still learning even now which I enjoy including currently developing my brand “KID” which is also my nickname with an extremely long meaning behind how I got it.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
So far yes, it’s been pretty smooth, because I’m a homebody so photography has definitely gotten me out the house more to places, I never thought I would be or go & on multiple trips to stay creative but also have fun at the same time.

As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
I’m a Freelance Photographer I’ve shot Birthday Parties, Baby Showers, Individuals, Landscape for my 500px profile that involves income. It’s still some other things I want to dive into like weddings and more product shoots, because I don’t want to ever box myself into one specific thing.

98% of the photos that make it to my Instagram page is in black and white because it’s my personal expression that I started out with. Photography has always been very therapeutic for me, and that’s what sets me apart from others is my purpose of all of this due to me being able to give you the meaning behind every single photo I’ve taken outside of the different events.

Can you tell us more about what you were like growing up?
I was quiet as some people would call it shy but I just spoke when I was spoken to. I was always fine being in the back seat instead of the front, because being seen never mattered to me. From when I was a kid up until 10th grade, I wanted to be a basketball player before my energy shifted into finding something different. I spent a lot of time trying to figure it out and it wasn’t until I was 22 when photography basically found me.
