Hi Champagne, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started my business two and a half years ago due to depression and being a single mother that couldn’t keep a job. I lost my father to gun violence in 2012 and spent six years in a long-lost unknown depression. When I started reaching out for help, I felt I had nobody and I didn’t like taking man made medication. By 2019 I had been dealing with terrible migraines and anxiety attacks and a face picking disorder from my depression so I wanted to create something that would keep my hands busy and help heal my mental health issues naturally. I started candle-making as a hobby that I would post to my social media accounts in within three months, I birth a business I had no idea how to run. I started being open about my struggles and that’s how I built my customers. I created something to bring attention to mental health awareness and the power of natural healing with aromatherapy to help others not feel alone as most feel they are.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been far from a smooth road. No business road taken is easy but when you start a business with a strong purpose about stuff people has grown used to not speaking on, it makes the road a bit more bumpy. The support don’t came easy because I make products people really have to buy and smell for themself to know they serve a greater purpose and also an amazing product. Feedback and Reviews is the hardest to get even when people tell you how great your products are something bout typing people just don’t like unless it’s a status or text. But my personal struggle has been learning to actually run a business the right way. Since I started as a hobby and had no plans to own a business, I have had to learn as my business has grown.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I call myself the Candle Dealer because that all I do is work on my business. Everything from start to finish frontline and behind the scenes I make happen by myself. My favorite part of my business is the creating of the products. When I first started, I only had four different candles now I have over 30+ candles, wax melts, incense, oil blends, sage, jewelry and bug repellent. I make and handcraft everything myself. Every candle has a purpose of its own. It’s not just about scents it’s about the mood the vibe it set the healing you need. That’s what makes my candle business so different I create to heal and bring peace with aromatherapy not just smell goods but don’t get me wrong, I have created some of the best unique scents you will ever smell.

Before we let you go, we’ve got to ask if you have any advice for those who are just starting out?
I like to tell people do what calls to you. It’s so much to do when running a business but always make sure you put yourself into what you love doing so it will always stand out. Your business should represent who you truly are there for you don’t have to worry about who you need to be for customers just to get more customers. Being different pays off.
