Today we’d like to introduce you to Brad Easley.
Hi Brad, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
My wife and I started Rough and Rigid seven years ago. We began by making fire pits in the garage of our home in Basehor. One day we received a text message from one of Patrick Mahomes coaches asking us to make him a custom pit. Little did we know what that text would do for us and our dreams for Rough and Rigid. We both recently left our full-time jobs as an electrician and Human Resource Manager to pursue and build our small business.
We also make pumpkins and monsters out of old gas cans, milk jugs and more we take something old and make into something new all of our items are upcycled from other products. We absolutely love what we do. We are passionate about our project and our customer. Our friends at Rough & Rigid start off as customers then quickly become a part of the Rough and Rigid family!
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Owning your own business is a lot of hard work and long days. Every day there is a new obstacle but we face each one with a positive attitude. I would say the biggest has been the drastic increase in steel prices. We are optimistic and believe they will come down with time.

Everything we make is made to last. The fire pits are made of 1/4 inch steel. We have multiple sizes and styles each o e is made to order… each pit pivots for directional heat. We love knowing our fire pits bring families and friends together in the comfort of their backyards. As for the pumpkins, we work hard on each can from cleaning it to the designs and giving the perfect finish. We are incredibly humbled by the amount of people who try every year to buy one of our forever pumpkins.
What were you like growing up?
I was a wild child with a huge imagination. I loved playing with my friends, I have always loved art and drawing. I love using my hands to make and build things.
