Life & Work with Ailynn Lindo

Today we’d like to introduce you to Ailynn Lindo.

Hi Ailynn, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstory with our readers?
Construction field by day and model by night. I was born in Miami Florida but raised in Honduras until I was about eight. After my parents got a divorce, my siblings and I were brought back to the USA by my single mother who did not speak English so I had to quickly adapt and learn English to help interpret for my family. Unfortunately, I did not have the best guidance due to my mother working two jobs to provide for my siblings and I causing some bad days in my teenage years. I didn’t have it all growing up but I barely noticed because I was full of love and dedication to become successful. In my early 20’s I was in an abusive relationship for years where I lost sight of what I wanted in life and forgetting about my child modeling dreams, thankfully one day I woke up and decided enough was enough and I was able to see my worth and break away from that putting myself first and pursue the modeling career. I did graduate from William Chrisman and attended Maple woods community college graduating with an interpreter’s degree. Over the last two years, I have walked in some of Kansas City’s best shows in the Midwest and worked with many talented individuals around the metro area. I have also overcome the obstacles and stereotypes of being a woman in the construction world as it is more of a man’s field and now I am a government sales specialist for the third-largest rental company in North America using my native language as a way to further my career. I thank God for my journey, for the beautiful & ugly days, and for the things I went through to make me the woman that I am today. I live in the Kansas City area with my beautiful dog Santana which is like my child!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
It has not been a smooth road for either my modeling career and sales career. Some of the struggles were to break out of my shell and become more social and open to receiving help and criticism to make me a professional. When I first started modeling, I had no clue how to walk in high heels so I practiced at a gym where I had blisters on the back of my ankles due to hours of walking back and forth and perfecting my catwalk.” can I speak to a man” has to be the toughest question and remark in my career field. To be in the construction field, you have to be more than a pretty face as a woman, you gotta have thick skin and really be knowledgeable about the products so you can be respected and treated equally.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I am a government sales specialist for HERC rentals where I specialize in renting construction equipment to municipalities in Missouri, Kansas, and Nebraska. I have also been modeling for about two years in Kansas City and walked in multiple fashion shows and have done photoshoots for local magazines. I think what sets me apart is that during the ay I wear construction steel toe boots and during the night, I wear 6″ heels. I know how to rock hi-vis vest or a red silhouette gown.
