Inspiring Conversations with Tierra Roberson of Pearls of Purpose

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tierra Roberson.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
I never wanted to be this “girl” who talked about a heartbreak, however here I am sharing a small chapter to my story with you. I ended a relationship and allowed my heart to break and to find out it was more about me than the other person. I asked myself some hard questions, did some digging and found out that I had been avoiding myself. I decided that night I cried my eyeball out that I Tierra Crystal will vow to love me and honor myself with this new process. I wrote my first book which I’m in the process of getting published right now. I started to become more self-aware and took time to intentionally love on myself. I started to journal and always needed a candle as I wrote, painted my toes, sing and danced like no one was watching me, even when I prayed and worshipped God I felt like He led me to light a candle.

One day I said I’ll start my own candle line looked some stuff up on YouTube university and ordered my first candle kit from Amazon. Sold out on my first two drops with the help of my little sister Umayyah Muhammad, all of this in my mom’s kitchen and garage. I added the candles to my Pearl Box, Pearl Box is a self-care box filled with goodies; I created this box years ago had to pull those boxes out of storage and put them to use. Pearl Box and H.E.R. Candles are two in one because both are all about self-care. Today’s culture, we are big on everyone being busy bosses, with hustle and grind which are all great, however I want those people to still away from all the hustle. I wanted to combat being the buy boss and create something tangible to people. I wanted to be a part of people’s Intimate moments. My vision isn’t just to sell products to my audience I want them to get back to their whole healthy selves and rekindle the fire within them so they can light someone else’s candle to get back to H.E.R “Hope, Esteem, Resilient” one candle at a time.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
I had to learn and remake candles until I got it just how I liked it. I think learning new things even if it is something you like isn’t always easy. I’m in school and plan to graduate next spring so finding the balance with my studies and being creative all while still being a mom. Each late night ordering wrong supplies getting fragrances down has all been worth it. I learned everything in my mom’s kitchen with God and Google and a laptop.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Pearls of Purpose is the motherboard of my candle business H.E.R. Candles. I am a certified life coach I wanted to be able to give my clients something to be a part of their journey. I am currently attending Park University and obtaining my degree in Social Psychology and plan on opening a physical facility to service my community.

Any big plans?
My plans for the future will be to have a building that can accommodate different needs of the community and partner up with others to meet needs one stop shop. I want my own warehouse for my products to create jobs for people who look like me and those who want to be a part of the plan.
