Inspiring Conversations with Tara Titsworth

Today we’d like to introduce you to Tara Titsworth.

Hi Tara, thanks for joining us today. We’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
As a mom of two young boys, I have always searched high and low for legitimate work from home jobs. It wasn’t until late 2017 that I heard the term “virtual assistant”. I was immediately intrigued and signed up for a webinar to learn more about how I could start my own virtual assistant business. I had recently resigned from my demanding job and desperately needed something that would offer flexibility.

I invested in a course and started my virtual assistant business in the spring of 2018. I learned a lot in that first 9-12 months and started sharing tips for other aspiring virtual assistants on my social media accounts. Immediately I started fielding questions on a daily basis as to what is a virtual assistant and how I started my virtual assistant business.

This organically led to me launching my first workshop for aspiring virtual assistants, which eventually became my course, Foundations.

Fast forward to today and I work with my long-time clients who have become like family as well as teaching women how to start and grow their own successful virtual assistant business.

I’m a big believer in practicing what I preach and see a huge gap in the online coaching space when it comes to this.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
The first nine months of my business definitely had ups and downs. I made the mistake of setting myself up to do everything for anyone who would hire me. This resulted in me working with clients who were not ideal, and I was not making the money I knew that I should be making.

Once I clearly defined who my ideal client is and niched down to just a few services that I became the go to expert in, that’s when everything changed for me in my business.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about?
My business, Tara Shea The VA, LLC has two parts to it. The first is that I provide done for you administrative services for female business owners who are also moms. I have been providing these services for the last three years and the work I do is so rewarding. I love partnering with amazing women business owners to take some stress away and to truly partner with them in their businesses. I have a long-standing relationship with all of clients, and they each have become so much more than just a “client”. My work is so rewarding.

The second part of my business is that I passionately teach other amazing women how to start and grow their own successful virtual assistant business. I am a firm believer that this can work for so many women who want and need a job where they can make good money and also have all the freedom and flexibility that they need. I offer a mini-course that teaches you everything you need to start your virtual assistant business called Foundations. My signature 90-day intensive, The Formula, is a deep dive into how to grow and scale your virtual assistant business once you have those foundations pieces down.

What sets me apart from others is that I am still doing the work as I teach other women how to do this. This industry is constantly changing and I am able to keep up with it because of the fact that I’m still actively working in it. My goal is to always “practice what I preach”. It has been an honor to walk beside so many amazing women who are starting their businesses and leaving their traditional jobs in the pursuit of something better for themselves and their families.

I am most proud of the amazing community of go getter women that I have created. We all cheer each other on and celebrate each other’s wins on a weekly basis. It truly is a community over competition feel. Entrepreneurship can be hard and lonely. It’s so important to surround yourself with like-minded people who are going to keep pointing you back to your goals.

Have you learned any interesting or important lessons due to the Covid-19 Crisis?
Virtual assistants are more in demand than ever due to the Covid crisis. So many businesses were forced to move one hundred percent online and more and more people are seeing just how much can be done online. I have seen more job opportunities for virtual assistants over the last 18 months than my entire three years in this industry. It’s such an exciting time for virtual assistants!
