Today we’d like to introduce you to Mischelle Saunders-Gottsch.
Hi Mischelle, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
My story is a story of what brought me to establishing my Nonprofit, Altered Stories Ministry,
I’m a childhood cult survivor and an overcomer. My vision for Altered Stories Ministry started when I discovered the healing power of sharing my story of the trauma, and emotional and sexual abuse that I experienced in this cult along with others.
I discovered that my story inspired others and also helped me emotional heal when I shared it. Because of that, I felt called to help other women heal from their brokenness by providing a platform for them to share their transformational God stories of healing, so other women around the world could hear them. #BeHeard #BeHealed
I also served on a Women’s Leadership team at Compassion International in Colorado Springs, Colorado and helped emcee monthly luncheon meetings where speakers would share their God stories. I saw how these stories inspired so many of the women who heard them and helped encourage them in their struggles.
I established Altered Stories Ministry in February 2019 and went official with my podcast, The Altered Stories Show. The mission of Altered Stories Ministry is helping Christian women share their God stories so women around the world can hear them.
As Chief Storyteller host of The Altered Stories Show, I have shared 64 transformational God Story Episodes that are transforming women’s lives around the world. I’ve shared all types of inspirational and transformational healing stories (sex trafficking, drug addiction, domestic abuse, cancer survival, miscarriage, snake bite recovery, sudden death of loved ones, great loss, mental health issues, health breakdowns, trauma, accidents involving death, and death to life). My show can be heard in 40 countries. I have close to 8,000 listeners. My podcast in on most major podcast platforms and has a top 10% global ranking out of 2.6 million podcasts. My podcast show is also part of the Spark Media Podcast Network.
I continue to share women’s God stories and to share my personal story with others. I have been a guest on 14 different podcasts to share my story to continue to encourage and help women heal from brokenness. I’m also working on writing my healing story book and plan to release it at the end of 2022.
We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
I have had several challenges. While working on my Nonprofit launch, I was involved in a car accident and experienced a concussion. I also moved to Kansas from Colorado. In addition. I broke my right foot (3 metatarsal bones), too. There has been numerous financial challenges and some turnover on my Board and with my volunteers. Covid also impacted our new donations and in-person events as well as our volunteer help.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Altered Stories Ministry?
Our services are broad. In addition to our global storytelling podcast service, we also assist women with developing their God stories. I also provide podcast interview coaching and podcast storytelling consulting services to other Nonprofits.
What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
My persistence. My faith.
