Today we’d like to introduce you to Michala Uresti.

Hi Michala, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
I had to grow up fast after becoming a teen mom & leaving my toxic home at 17. I dropped out of high school to get my CNA so I could earn more than minimum wage to provide for myself and son. After being out on my own, I realized I needed to go back to school & get a grip on my life choices. I heard about a homeschooling program I could earn my last credits so I could receive my high school diploma. I am grateful I was a part of the last accredited class to graduate. I turned to Massage Therapy to help manage stress & for pain management. Finding the Healing Arts has helped me on a physical, mental, emotional, & spiritual level. My life has forever changed for the greatest. One day after a Massage and another late night at work, I decided Massage Therapy was what I was going to do instead of pursuing a career in nursing. People thought I was crazy & told me how hard it would be to have a successful business as a Massage Therapist & to get clients. Part of me thought I was crazy also, deep down though I just had this calling to go enroll in school. In Massage School I always knew I wanted to work for myself that was my intentions I set for myself from the start. I started doing Massages out of my house while I was in school. I started telling people I could travel to them, and that’s how the Mobile Massage business inspiration started. I thought it would be so nice if you could just stay home & receive a Massage.

One day a few months in as a LMT I just woke inspired to start my LLC & to give it a go and be in business for myself. I had no idea how to start & run a business and I had no money. I did not think anything through like I would now. I didn’t have a legit business plan either to be honest, I don’t always suggest that, just keeping it real here. I just listened to my gut feeling & knew deep down I needed to make it happen. I started my spiritual journey shortly after & working on my own healing and manifestation. I started spending all my free time figuring everything out & creating all my content, treatments, website, and marketing material. I had no money, so I did everything as cheap as possible, any money I made I started buying my equipment & things for my Mobile Massage business. It was such an experience I am so grateful for. In 2019, I decided I needed a Studio, I wanted to create a peaceful sacred place for people to meditate & balance their Mind, Body, Muscles, Chakras and Spirit. My clients love the ambiance I have set at Massage Studio of Kansas City. Mind Body Healing is my passion & I am forever a learner for myself & clients.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It’s been a challenge & a lot of stress at times just keeping it real but I am forever grateful for the journey & lessons, it helped mold me to who I am today and to get me to this first stage in my businesses. Being a new business owner, having a baby, going through a divorce, and keeping my new businesses growing during covid19 has been a challenge these first 3.5 years. One thing about me is I do not give up & keep learning and working on myself to expand my consciousness & always putting energy in my businesses & getting things done. If something in my businesses doesn’t work, I take it as lessons & try again. I have no attachments & go with the flow. I have had to do a lot of reassessing in my businesses as they are growing. One of the best things I have done this year is started investing in talking with a business coach to learn and elevate my businesses and staying on top of things.

My Mobile Holistic Spa provides people with the convenience & luxury of Massage Therapy, Holistic Spa Treatments, Couples Massages, Spa Parties & at-work Wellness Retreats on the go. We travel to our clients Homes, Hotel, Airbnb, Workplace or Event. Clients really enjoy the on-demand service & being able to have a Spa experience at their chosen location. Massage Studio of Kansas City is a sacred Spa Studio I created for people to rebalance their Mind, Body & Spirit. A soothing atmosphere away from the normal, aromatic oils diffusing in the air, a warm table to lay on, and a soothing Massage that actually helps is sometimes all we need to feel rebalanced & refreshed again. Both Mobile Massage of Kansas City & Massage Studio of Kansas City offers Massage Therapy, Reiki energy healing, you can have Reiki with or without a Massage and my Signature Holistic Mind Body Spa Treatments I created. We also incorporate Sound Therapy, Breathwork, Plant Therapy, and Meditation into our Treatments for a Holistic Mind Body approach to self-healing.

What’s next?
I have many business goals and things to achieve. I am currently hiring employees to offer more availability for clients. I am looking to build partnerships with other wellness businesses in the metro and would like to expand & put my Mobile Holistic Spa in other States. For Massage Studio of Kansas City, I would like to expand to a bigger space or a second location to offer more availability for my clients & other Spa other amenities.
