Inspiring Conversations with Laura Murff of Luminare Aesthetics & Wellness

Today we’d like to introduce you to Laura Murff.

Hi Laura, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Nurse Practitioner; I got Xeomin myself when I was in my 30’s after noticing some fine lines starting to sink and looking tired (3 kids will do that to you). I wanted to look refreshed, and I loved my results. I really became interested in Aesthetics and decided that all my friends either were getting Botox or were thinking about it. I decided to start a side job.

Quickly, my clientele grew and a space opened up in my gym that was perfect for my first medspa. I decided to jump on the opportunity even though we were in the middle of the Covid pandemic with unknown certainty. I opened our first location in July 2020 with a total of three staff, and now one year later, we are up to 15 staff and looking to open a 2nd location. Luminare has an amazing team that has helped us to expand quickly. We have 5 Nurse Injectors, three aestheticians, a weight-loss Nurse Practitioner, and a lash artist to give an amazing variety of options. We pride ourselves in providing membership options to make self-care affordable.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
We have been very fortunate to have a successful business. Our biggest challenge has been in keeping up with rapid growth which is a good problem to have

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
At Luminare, our mission is to help others look and feel their best, to let their inner light shine. We pride ourselves in empowering our clients to have confidence and feel their best. At Luminare, we have created a culture that is welcoming, educating, and not intimidating. All of our Nurse Injectors are registered nurses with our owner being a Nurse Practitioner. We provide a safe, judgment-free experience with exceptional results. We have grown substantially over the past year since we opened, going from 3 to 15 staff members, being voted int the top 3 med spas in KC by Best of KC, and looking to open a 2nd location. We offer a variety of services from Botox, Dermal Fillers, Facials, Microneedling, Weight loss treatments, lash extensions and much more. 

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
As a business owner, being self-driven and persistent have been instrumental to my success.
