Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Vannaman MD.
Hi Dr. Vannaman, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I am a Family Medicine Physician who became disillusioned by the traditional medical system to the point I almost left medicine entirely. Luckily, I was introduced to Direct Primary Care, a type of practice that re-establishes the patient-doctor relationship by removing the usual barriers to care. After researching all I could and talking to many brave physicians who had already made the leap, Health Suite 110 was born in July 2015. Instead of spending our time dealing with billing, coding and insurance companies, we are able to spend time listening to and actually CARING for our patients – regardless of insurance status, job status or overall health status. Over the last six years, we have continued to grow through word-of-mouth advertising and have a great team of three family medicine MDs and three amazing RNs that LOVE what we do!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
I sometimes joke that it’s good that I had no idea what I was getting into when we started. What’s that they say? Ignorance is bliss? While I knew what it takes to be a good family doctor, the entrepreneurial side was a whole new adventure. Thankfully, I have an amazing husband who has the patience of a saint, optimism of a cheerleader and who likes math and spreadsheets. He has taken on a lot of the behind-the-scenes business work and is always ready to brainstorm a solution as issues pop up, whether it’s how to structure salaries to what to do about a broken water heater. I am also so grateful to my outstanding staff who have each taken on special projects throughout the years (diaper drive, adopt-a-plant, self-made IT “expert”, social media guru, advanced cardiac testing, etc.) and are ALWAYS committed to doing what’s right by our patients.
Health Suite 110 started as a joint venture with my co-founder but ended up going our separate ways after over five years together. This was something I had not at all anticipated and has been a painful transition, both personally and professionally. While I am still heartbroken over our split, I am grateful for the time we had together and wish him and his dear wife nothing but the very best.
Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Health Suite 110 Direct Primary Care?
We are a local direct primary care (DPC) practice in Overland Park, KS who provides care for ALL ages, from newborn to ages 100+ through a flat, monthly membership fee. It’s like Netflix for health care, but better. We have three full-time family medicine physicians (MDs) and three full-time nurses (RNs) on staff. We LOVE the freedom of practicing in the direct primary care model and the ability to take care of our patients in whatever way makes the most sense: text, video visit, email, in-person clinic visit, house call – we do it all for less than the price of a cup of coffee a day. In addition, we offer many FREE in-house procedures, wholesale medications, labs, imaging and are always working to build relationships with local sub-specialists to help our patients if they need to escalate their treatment. Lastly, I am the co-founder and chair of the Midwest DPC Alliance, a group of DPC practices in and around the Kansas City area to help promote and support our fellow DPC colleagues.
Another unique thing about our practice is that we limit our panel size to ensure prompt, individualized care. Currently, Dr. Vannaman’s panel is full, but Dr. Jennifer Teegarden and Dr. Charles Willnauer are currently accepting new patients, but spots are limited.
Is there something surprising that you feel even people who know you might not know about?
After completing my residency, I worked as a locum tenems physician in New Zealand for 3.5 years. It was meant to just be a six months gig before settling back home in Kansas City, but we loved it so much, we had to stay longer! We still stay in touch with many of our friends, colleagues and patients we met during that time.

I’ve been a patient of Dr. Teegarden’s for over a year. My adult kids, their spouses and children and other extended family members are also fortunate enough to be her patients. This practice has been a joy for all of us. The entire office is so friendly and welcoming. It’s such a comfort to know that they’re always available to us. Have a strange rash… text a pic and get help in a hour. They make it so easy. We all feel truly cared about and known.
