Inspiring Conversations with Kylie Paulsen and Kaili Schroeder of Living Loved Boutique

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kylie Paulsen and Kaili Schroeder.

Hi Kylie and Kaili, we’re thrilled to have a chance to learn your story today. So, before we get into specifics, maybe you can briefly walk us through how you got to where you are today?
We are Kaili Schroeder and Kylie Paulsen and our story really starts back with us becoming friends in 2012. We were both recently married and in small group at church with one another. We have walked through a lot of life together-seven kids between the two of us, the loss of a baby, couples vacations, family vacations, helping start a church plant and so much more. Through all of this, the Lord has really brought us close as not just friends but as family. Starting a business had always been on our minds off and on individually but it was at the beginning of 2020 that we started of dreaming about it together as friends. We met at a coffee shop and really talked about what we wanted our brand to look like and what we wanted our products to be and do for people. We started off with just candles and signs but it quickly started to grow into more products. We started online but knew we wanted to have a big kickoff to get our name out there.

So in October of 2020, we had a big pop up at Kaili’s house and it was a big success for us. We had the time of our lives meeting new people and getting to talk about our items with others. People shopped for themselves and for their friends and family. It was awesome! We never expected there to be a pandemic when we first started dreaming up Living Loved Boutique but we didn’t let that deter our dreams of continuing on and launching in April of that year. We have spent lots of time thinking and praying about our products and the people that they will reach. We really enjoy the process of making the items ourselves and have learned a lot about ourselves as individuals and how we complement each other as partners. This business has grown us as friends and as business partners. We think it’s really unique that we were able to come together as friends and create something that we both truly love and brings joy to others. Today we are continuing to dream about what the future of Living Loved Boutique looks like. We continue to do pop ups on our own and with others as much as we can but we are mostly found on our social media pages and website.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle free, but so far would you say the journey have been a fairly smooth road?
So far in our journey, the road has been fairly smooth. The struggles we’ve had mostly have included really figuring out our brand and making everything that comes to mind cohesive in our products. We also started our business in the midst of a pandemic which made getting our name out there harder since in person events were not happening.

Appreciate you sharing that. What should we know about Living Loved Boutique?
We created this business in hopes that we could create a place that weaves together faith, motherhood and creativity. We are both moms who know we desperately need Jesus and reminders of His truth daily in our lives. You may not believe you are a creative person, but the Bible tells us that we are created in His image and He is a creative God! We hope you embrace your creativity and follow along with us as we embrace ours. All of our items are handmade by the two of us right here in Kansas City. Everything we create is meant to bring you joy, encourage you, and remind you of the love that God has for you-whether that’s bringing beauty to the ordinary things, laughing at a funny signs or being reminded of God’s promises as you light a candle. It is our hope that our products would remind you of God’s love for you. That you would embrace who God made you to be and live knowing you are fully known and loved by God. Our items are perfect for your home or even as gifts. One of the biggest blessings for us is when people tell us how they saw one of our items and knew they needed to give it to someone else. The stories of how those items blessed others really encourage us and is a testament of God’s love.

Some items that we create are signs, candles, jewelry, stickers and mugs. These are things that we love and know other people do as well. You can find scripture on our items and also things that make you laugh.

The colors of our brand are colors that bring us so much joy and they are woven throughout everything that we make to bring our customers joy as well. They are bright, bold and fun! At events, these colors really make us stand out in the crowd and draw people over to check out our items.

What quality or characteristic do you feel is most important to your success?
Being faithful with what the Lord has called us to and striving to do things with excellence. We don’t always get it right but our passion for our business and bringing encouragement to others keeps us going and growing.
