Inspiring Conversations with Jordan Haase

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jordan Haase.

Hi Jordan, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
I always knew I was different. Growing up in a family with 9 kids can get pretty wild! Sometimes you can get lost in the background, but I was never a backup performer. I wanted to be front and center. So many aspects of my life shaped me into who I am today.

When I reminisce on my childhood a couple of things always stick out. Music, and Real Estate. I remember showings, home tours, and late nights at the office sleeping on makeshift beds, while my mom worked on writing offers into the night for her buyers and sellers. Raising us kids alone, made parenting and work collide. Running around showing homes after school was a pretty normal routine, and we always had music to get us through. I was always down to go on a little trip to see what homes she had scheduled out for the day. I made each showing feel like an adventure. Seeing the different styles of homes all over the KC metro! I loved it!

I didn’t always think I would end up in the real estate. When I hit my teen years, I went in a different direction. My mom urged me to become a Realtor, like her, and I didn’t believe at the time I could do it. I focused instead, on my music, which is still very important to me. I am a singer, but also self-taught on guitar, piano, and ukulele. While performing little gigs around town I also worked at the grocery store to help pay the bills.

It took a while for me, but when I was 20 years old, I finally came out to my family as being gay. It was such a tough decision to make, especially because I grew up baptist. My family told me they always knew, but it was one of the toughest things I ever had to do. It made me feel whole again. I had a sense of understanding that this one thing that scared me to death turned out to be the thing that set me free to be me. I knew I would be able to do whatever I put my mind to.

When nearing my 4-year anniversary at the grocery store, I thought to myself, why was I working so hard for someone else and not getting where I wanted to be? I took a step back and remembered that I have more to give than this 9-5 was offering. which set me on the path to finally starting something I knew I would enjoy, Real Estate!!! For months, I would get up, go to work, and go home and study for my real estate exam.

I gave up my free time for a career that I knew could be life-changing if I put my energy into it. After late nights of studying, and passing multiple tests, I was finally able to start my career! I was a fully licensed Realtor in Missouri and Kansas which I have successfully made a career out of! It is also the most fulfilling career. Seeing the look on my buyers and sellers faces when we close on their homes is so rewarding. It’s a lot of work, but it’s worth it!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It has been a roller coaster! Building a real estate business from the ground up, by yourself, definitely has its struggles. There are days everything goes to plan and other days when things are not going how I need them at all!

There are only a handful of agents that make it past their first year. It takes a lot of patience and unknowingness in the beginning. You sometimes work 12-hour days and are on call 24/7. I know now how to make a work-life balance happen, but you have to be willing to put the hours in to get to where you want to be in this career.

No one hands you anything. It is you working to get to that next level. Only you can make the dreams you want to happen. No one cares as much about your future as you do.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about Jordan Haase – Tala Realty Co?
I am A Realtor at Tala Realty Co in the Kansas City Metro! I specialize in Residential and Commercial Real Estate.

I am known for closing deals! I get the job done for my sellers and buyers and do it with comfort and ease of mind.

I am most proud of the agent I have become. I’m proud to be able to say, I made it. I took control of my narrative and I now control how successful I can become by myself. I don’t have to rely on a paycheck every other week from a big corporation that works their employees to death. I know my worth and I’m really proud of that. I also proud to be a voice and helping hand for my LGBTQIA+ community.

I am set apart because I always make sure my clients are at ease throughout the sale. Becoming a homeowner is a dream for many and I want to make sure, my buyers and sellers know they have a friend in me. I am your friend in real estate. I know that a lot of agents are one and done, but that’s not me. I keep up with all my clients/friends. They know I have their back throughout and after the sale because it’s more than a sale. I will be there with any questions you may have! I’ve got you! I will always pick up the phone when needed.

We’d love to hear what you think about risk-taking?
I am a risk-taker. I’m not afraid to step out of the box. When I started in Real estate, I quit my secure paycheck, because I knew that I wouldn’t be elevated in any way staying at that job.

I am a risk-taker in many areas of my life. Coming out to my family was a huge risk, but I have always been the person to stand up for what I believe in and who I am. I believe you just have to go with your gut.

Trust your instincts and you will achieve things you didn’t believe were possible! I constantly deal with risk, sometimes it pays off, sometimes it doesn’t, but if you don’t try, you can never succeed.
