Inspiring Conversations with Eleanor Casale of Dance With El

Today we’d like to introduce you to Eleanor Casale.

Hi Eleanor, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Dancing has always been a passion of mine. Beginning early on started dance school at the age of six till 16…graduated high school and wanted to go to NYC to study dance…Mom was not happy with my choice felt the road ahead would be hard and unstable…instead pursued a career in fashion…studying in Boston…had a very successful and long career in fashion but my heart was always with dancing. Finally, upon turning 45 years young taking a jazzercise class, the owner approached me to become an instructor…I was a single mom whom lived in CT and worked in NYC…commuting 3 hours a day how would I find the time…I then turned back to my mom and family and they said it’s your time…go for it…I went through months of training and lots of anxiety thinking I was too old but with everyone’s support including my daughter, I took on the challenge. Taught part-time and realized this was more than a passion this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my career days…I realized I had a gift to share…I could inspire others to lead a healthier path…to find their passion to find an exercise program that would change their life…my classes were full to capacity…they were usually themed with costumes lots of laughter and lots of sweat. The rapport I had with clients made me realize I could take this big leap of faith and open my own studio…the challenge didn’t end there. I needed to go back to school. Study and pass the series of first…first group fitness instructor then senior specialist and recently a personal trainer. Talk about a challenge pushing 60 and starting over isn’t easy but I was determined…It’s been eight years now and DANCE WITH going strong. Group classes one on one training…country line dancing and stretch classes….never too old to follow your dreams…everyday I am blessed to inspire others to take care of themselves…to try new challenges, set goals and achieve them…what a feeling…life is good these days…

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Covid made it harder to grow and survive…but I did it…kept 90% of my customers…with online dancing workouts then small group-outdoor classes and now time to recruit new clients…..most of my clients have been with me for the eight years some fall off and some return but all I know I inspired.

One struggle that will never go away is pushing through classes when your body says rest…but as a one man show, the show must go on…so I rest when I can…but for the most part, push through it…hey, we have plenty of time for rest when we are dead…those are words from my 88 years old mom still going strong…

We’ve been impressed with Dance With El, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Small fitness center…only women offers group classes personal training sessions…country line dancing classes and stretch classes…

It’s the personal touch that separates me…weekly emails…thank you texts for attending…group gatherings…costume parties, birthday celebration classes…everyone stays connected…we call each other our dance family…

Clients are from age of 40-89…talk about role model…no judgment no drama a place to let life go…if everyone remembers how they feel after class, it’s a great way to get to class…

Offer online classes…so no excuse you can pick the time and place and get your workout in…pretaped classes or zoom a one on one class…

Rapport rapport rapport…is the key to my business…everyone feels like a superstar…everyone feels successful….everyone goes at their own pace…
