Inspiring Conversations with Beth Wiese of Haute Hair & Padhere

Today we’d like to introduce you to Beth Wiese.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
Like a lot of other great entrepreneurial stories, mine starts with a who, not a what. The most incredible woman I’ve ever met happens to also be my mom. She was a female engineer long before it was trendy, she had a creative mind that could create a solution to every problem, and a heart that had room for everyone she met. I grew up watching her pitch ideas to local businesses, have brain storming parties with her friends, and work harder than I had ever seen any other person work. I aspired to be just like her and because of her, I pursued my career in engineering.

In 2011, right before my high school graduation, my mom lost her battle with ovarian cancer. In one of our last conversations, she had me promise to move on and achieve great things and because of this, carrying on my mom’s legacy, problem solving, and love for life is the motivation that drives me in times that feel stagnant.

After graduating with my Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering, I went to work for an engineering consulting firm. It was here that I quicky realized that I am not well suited for cubicle life. Trying to creatively problem solve but being constrained by red tape ultimately led me to give up offering solutions to my employer and start creating my own business which I would have full control over. In Spring of 2020 Haute Hair LLC was born.

Haute Hair is an importer of 6D hair extensions, a revolutionary type of hair extensions technology that has not yet been widely adopted. I started this company when I stumbled upon this technology on social media but nowhere to purchase it. Haute Hair has now been in business for over a year and a half and is the sole US based company selling this technology and offering formal training and certification in 6D hair extensions.

Once Haute Hair was on its feet, and I had an understanding of Ecommerce, I couldn’t help myself from solving another inconvenience: removable bra pads and swimsuit pads falling out of place during use and wash. In 2021 I created Padhere Iron-on Bra Pads to solve this problem once and for all! The Padhere Pads have heat activated adhesives on them and are sweatproof, waterproof, washer proof, and dryer proof. The pads are the first and only solution of their kind and as such, have been trademarked, and are patent pending. Padhere Pads are now available for purchase online, on Amazon Prime, and in store at local boutiques.

What I love most about my entrepreneurial journey is knowing that I am adding value to society. By identifying a problem or gap in technology, and finding the resources to fix it, I am allowing others to benefit from my solution. Because both Haute Hair and Padhere are relatively new, I know that the road ahead is full of obstacles but even more full of expansion and opportunities to create solutions and help others.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
To expect a perfectly smooth entrepreneurial journey would be naïve, and to view obstacles as setbacks would be negative. Each struggle or situation that forces you to learn something is for the betterment of your future self and business. Every detail I missed that forced me to redo work, or article that I read to learn why something wasn’t working the way I wanted it to has helped me gain a much deeper understanding of E-commerce and my own businesses.

As a green entrepreneur wanting optimize budget, many tasks result in a lot of doing it yourself. Building and updating the website and learning to code enough to make the site personalized and professional isn’t what I would consider a struggle, but more of a learning process.

Other than riding the learning curve on every front, the only other challenge that I have faced is combining friendships with business. Haute Hair began as a partnership with someone whom I eventually grew apart from. As we found different passions for life, I had to create a plan to buy out my business partner and redirect the company. Decision making isn’t always easy when it’s clouded with emotion, but if this is the biggest challenge I face, I’ll take it.

We’ve been impressed with Haute Hair & Padhere, but for folks who might not be as familiar, what can you share with them about what you do and what sets you apart from others?
Haute Hair is the first and only company to sell 6D hair extensions in the United States. This type of technology allows stylists to reduce time spent on installation and removal, as 5 strands of hair can be installed at once. By increasing efficiency, stylists are able to work with more customers in less time and increase their profit. Additionally, 6D extensions don’t use heat or adhesive which can damage your natural hair. We are continually growing our network to include stylists that have gone through our certification program. Anyone interested in 6D extensions is able to look up stylists in their area on our website. This ensures the stylists are comfortable using the technology and the appointments will go smoothly.

Padhere Iron-on Pads are another first and only type of product. I created Padhere to help all of us spend less time worrying about removable pads twisting out of place, and more time focusing on our goals. By combining pads with an adhesive, Padhere was born with the word “HER” sitting firmly in the middle. Padhere stands for female empowerment by encouraging women to follow their dreams and invest time back into themselves. By reducing time spent worrying on trivial tasks, Padhere is giving back to women who already pack their days full! There is currently nothing else out there on the market that provides a permanent solution. In the past, some have gone as far as sewing removable pads into place, demonstrating that this technology is long overdue. Because of its uniqueness, this product is patent pending as well as trademarked.

Risk taking is a topic that people have widely differing views on – we’d love to hear your thoughts.
High risk, high reward. Everyone has a different life goal and different view of what kind of futuristic life would produce the most happiness. I feel most excited and satisfied when I am working on leaving value on society. Sometimes this route means exploring uncharted territory, making more decisions in one hour than some ever make in one day, and sending thousands of dollars to a manufacturer over in China you barely know. Taking a chance on yourself and others to build a business is scary at times but at the end of the day, it’s an investment similar to the stock market. When you put your money into a stock, you’re showing your support for the business, the product it makes, or the ideology behind the company. The only difference in investing in yourself is you get to be in charge of the direction you take. You may bear the risk, but more importantly, you reap the reward. If you think you can or you can’t, you’re absolutely correct.
