Hidden Gems: Meet Valerie Cisneros of Casa Soñada KC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Valerie Cisneros.

Hi Valerie, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I started as my mother’s real estate assistant in 2011 as she was growing her real estate business. I became a licensed real estate agent when she needed more help with showing homes to her clients. I was pregnant at the time and decided to leave my current job as a family support specialist to join my mother’s business and help it grow. I saw potential in her business and shared her passion for helping others in our Latino community.

So in 2012, I became a full-time real estate buyers agent and also did some administrative work, marketing and branding, hired and trained other agents and staff to join our team and we grew the business. We are now one of the top teams in our Keller Williams brokerage office. We help over 100 families buy or sell their homes every year. We have won many awards including the best real estate team in Kansas for the month by Real Trends; top Minority-owned business by Kansas City Business Journal and Hispanic Business of the Year by the Hispanic Chamber of Commerce Kansas City. In 2019, I was promoted to Director of Operations leaving the sales field so I can solely focus on our teams recruiting, training, coaching and mentoring, and business growth. I have a big vision for our family-owned business and for our community.

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Not always. Finding the right employee/staff has been hard. It is important to me that they share the same passion for what we do and have the motivation to succeed.

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
Casa Soñada KC was founded by my mother Elizabeth Ramirez in 2007. She wanted to help the Latino community accomplish the American dream and buy their first home. It was important to her that they have a guide in the process and understood the importance of such a big purchase. I joined her in 2011 because I shared her same passion to help others and felt the same pride for our Latino community and its growth. I am a licensed real estate agent. I worked as a buyers agent from 2012 to 2019 and was the top agent on our team. Also while doing that, I ran the administrative work, marketing and branding, hiring and training amongst other things that is needed to run a business. I was really loved by my clients and received many referrals as many of us on the team do; that it became very difficult for me to do everything at 100 percent so we made the decision that I would step away from sales and focus mainly of the operations of the team. I was promoted to Director of Operations for Casa Soñada KC in 2019. I love what I do.

My job focuses on the team’s business growth as a whole. When I bring an agent onto our team, my goal is their success. My tasks include training, coaching and mentoring, keeping them accountable, teaching and educating. It is very important to me that my team shares the same passion for helping our community and that customer service is always at its best. I believe that is what sets us apart from other real estate teams in our community. Everyone on our team is Bilingual in Spanish. We have systems and procedures in place so that all of our clients get the best service and communication along the way of their home purchases. It can be very scary for many Latinos when making such a big decision as buying or selling a home is. What we do is spell out the process for them in a way that they feel very comfortable and trust that the decision they made was the correct one. We focus on educating our clients from working on their credit score to the title company signing. I am very proud of being part of a family-owned, women-owned, and minority-owned business.

What would you say have been one of the most important lessons you’ve learned?
Be open-minded, be ambitious, and dream big.
