Hidden Gems: Meet Leah Rancilio of Studio 26 Skin and Lash

Today we’d like to introduce you to Leah Rancilio.

Hi Leah, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstory.
My journey as an esthetician began in 2014, working front desk at a high-volume wax center. It was there that I discovered my passion for skincare and the beauty industry. Motivated by this growing interest, I applied and was accepted into the Esthetics program at Johnson County Community College.
I enrolled in the part-time program while juggling two part-time jobs. After 18 months of dedication, I graduated and was soon promoted to Wax Specialist. During that time, I gained invaluable experience, connected with an incredible community, and began building a loyal clientele—many of whom I’m still honored to serve today.
After a few years at my first salon, I realized I wanted to expand my skill set. I transitioned to another salon where I reintroduced facial treatments into my practice. That move reignited my deep love for skincare—not just as a surface-level treatment, but as a reflection of what’s happening inside the body. Skin tells a story, and I was eager to listen and help others understand theirs.
Eventually, I felt I had outgrown that space. In October 2018, following a strong internal nudge, I took a leap of faith and opened my own business. That’s when Studio 26 Skin and Lash was born.
Since then, I’ve been incredibly fortunate to build a supportive, trusting clientele who have stood by me through every step. The relationships I’ve cultivated through this work are ones I will carry with me forever.
My mission goes far beyond waxing or skincare. I strive to create a safe, welcoming space where people can unwind and reconnect with themselves. I want to help clients tune in to their bodies—especially their skin—because it’s often the first to signal when something is off balance.
I love my little space. I’m endlessly grateful for everyone who has supported me along the way, and I look forward to continuing this journey—one face at a time.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Like anything in life, this journey has come with its fair share of ups and downs. Along the way, I’ve had to quickly learn unexpected skills I never imagined I’d need. As a small business owner, you wear many hats. I’m no longer just an esthetician—I’m also a businesswoman, a marketer, a scheduler, and so much more.
I’m proud of how I’ve adapted to the challenges that have come my way. Once I found my rhythm, everything started to click. This lifestyle, with all its moving parts, ended up fitting beautifully into the life I was creating for myself. I’ve discovered a balance that feels both natural and fulfilling.

As you know, we’re big fans of Studio 26 Skin and Lash . For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
At Studio 26, we specialize in full-body waxing—particularly Brazilian waxing—and offer a wide variety of facial treatments tailored to your skin’s unique needs. With over 10 years of experience in the waxing industry, I consider myself well-versed in the craft. But the real art lies in making women feel at ease in what can be a very vulnerable situation.
Somehow, these sessions often turn into the ultimate therapy hour—maybe it’s the intimacy of the moment, or maybe it’s the trust we build. Either way, it’s always an honor to hold that space for someone.
When it comes to facial treatments, our focus goes beyond surface-level results. We aim to nourish the skin and strengthen its natural function, so it can better handle imperfections like acne, rosacea, and sensitivity. My approach is holistic—I work closely with clients to explore the deeper connections between skin and lifestyle. We talk about diet, sleep, stress, habits, and even relationships.
Studio 26 is more than a treatment room—it’s a space for relaxation, rejuvenation, and real connection. My goal is to help every person who walks through the door feel seen, heard, and supported—inside and out.

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
When I think about my favorite childhood memory, the first thing that comes to mind is the summers spent at my grandparents’ pool, surrounded by all of my cousins. We ran around like wild children—sticky popsicles in hand, sunburnt cheeks glowing, and not a care in the world.
Those carefree days would end with us curled up together in bed, watching Spice World and snacking on potato chips with French onion dip. It was simple, joyful, and full of the kind of magic only childhood summers can bring.
