Hidden Gems: Meet Blake Piatczyc of BPM Dance Complex

Today we’d like to introduce you to Blake Piatczyc.

Hi Blake, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
I am dancer, choreographer, and studio director from Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Dance is all I have ever known. I was a competition dancer from 7 until I was 18 years old. When I was a teenager I started to doing TV shows like AGT, Live To Dance and World Of Dance. After graduating high school (early) I began dancing professionally full time working with artist like Paula Abdul, Jennifer Lopez, Rihanna and more. I have doing cruise ships, tours, music videos and more. Dance is my entire life.

After a severe injury I was forced to pivot from professional dancing to teaching and training dancers. I opened BPM Dance Complex in 2017 and we have since gone on to be a Regional, National and even World Champion Dance studio. We have been fortunate enough to receive Business of The Year noting that our accolades are not just on the dance floor but the business as a whole.

Now, I am fortunate enough to have trained dancers working professional in LA, dancing on college dance teams and even dancing in college training to become teachers themselves.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
Definitely not. COVID was a big hit for us. Dance is a luxury item so it was one of the first things to go for families when finances became tight. Even now in our current climate. But we are so extremely fortunate enough remain in business and about to start our 10th year in business.

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
We surround ourselves with the BEST and listen to our customer always. We acknowledge that this is a business but look for ways to save our families money while still providing the best training in the KC METRO. Working with an insane faculty which includes Emmy nominated and winning choreographers. We train dancers from 1 to 18 in both non competitive and competitive dance. Regardless if you want to become a professional dancer or not, dance helps set kids up for success. Learning how to win, lose, work as team and handle adversity. We aren’t just training amazing dancers but amazing humans.
