Today we’d like to introduce you to Andrew Bellemere.
Hi Andrew, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
Seven years ago, while working a full-time job. I had three kids and another one on the way. My wife stayed at home with the kids and I was the sole provider. Working a full-time job during the day my then coming home at night and doing all my side work from 7 pm – 2 am every night. It slowly turned into full-time job working on vehicles at home. My wife and my best friend talked me into starting Drew’s Diesel on July 1st, 2016! Having little money and no knowledge of what I was doing, I took the leap. All I knew is I had a wife and four kids to feed at home and I was somehow going to make this work!
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
It has not been a smooth road at all! After working the first month at home, I found a space to rent in Grain Valley. I didn’t even have enough money for the deposit or the rent but I had a landlord that hade faith in me to succeed in what I was doing! We also have had multiple trucks get broke into a Many late nights working till 3-4 in the morning trying to get trucks done!
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
We are aiming to be the largest light-duty/medium-duty diesel repair shop in the Midwest! We specialize in Powerstroke, Cummins & duramax. Most shops only specialize in one! We are a state-of-the-art facility with all the latest OEM scan tools and diagnostic machines! I personally drive and do quality control of every vehicle that leaves my shop!
Are there any important lessons you’ve learned that you can share with us?
The most important lesson I’ve learned is to be honest. Tell the customers exactly what they need and what they can wait on. Being honest has got me where I am at today.
