Today we’d like to introduce you to Aja Fuel.
Hi Aja, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
The year of 2018, I realized that I wanted to have a successful business.
When I graduated from high school in 2019, I always felt that college or the military was the only way to be successful because I thought I would need a degree to start my business so I attended UAPB in Arkansas for business and management, but that wasn’t the only way out. Although college is still a part of my goals, I have put my focus elsewhere. After spending a lot of time and having patience, I decided to attend barber school and investing into my business/ brand.
In 2021 decided to take a lot of risks and putting everything towards my career trusting my motive and vision, I knew that I could not only have a successful business for myself but one to inspire and help the community. Once I began barber school, I wanted to wait until I gained clientele and reached a target audience & market to exceed my business. The first thing I did to extend my business was to not only provide services for hair cuts but adding natural hair services such as locs, twist outs and natural hair care products because I wanted my clients not only to come to me for services but to maintain good health with their hair as well.
When I started seeing the success that my business was doing I finally found a vendor that I could trust and start investing in which led me to making 4orTheKulture website where not only clients can book their appointments but shop designer durags bonnets and head wraps as well. I truly believe that my business is successful 100% because I had the vision, was patient and had a passion for what I loved doing and being able to make others happy while doing it.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
Honestly running a business hasn’t been a smooth road, in 2020 I lost my mother which really gave me the motivation and push to keep going and to focusing on my goals. As a business owner, I’ve always wrote out my business plan. In the beginning, it was a little difficult for me to build clientele because I had moved from another state and really didn’t know a lot of people in Kansas City.
I had to persuade my audience to trust me as their stylist and why sitting in my chair was different from any other. I never relied on a lot of support because like I said, I was state to state, I use social media because it was to build my business portfolio. When it came to presentation I always knew that I wanted to keep my personal life separate from my business so I created a business page.
Everything I do is very much self-taught. I am a quick learner but a lot of struggles and challenges is what made the owner I am today and I was always told nothing in this world comes easy so I prepared my self for any obstacles that get thrown at me.
Thanks – so what else should our readers know about 4orTheKulture?
In 2021 I had launched my business with the goal of servicing everyone, letting them express themselves naturally and giving them haircuts to admire. Believing that all of my clients should take care of their hair and look good at the same time.
In 2022 I am here today to say that I realize that my goals and visions were well worth it and are bigger than ever. I felt like being in this industry was more than just hair or accessories I can help people in the process and whenever a client leaves my chair happy, it gives me more purpose in why I got into this business in the first place. I want my potential to lead everyone to embrace their natural and to never think of the hair being “DREAD-FUL” but think of it as “BEAUTI-FUL”.
I want my risk and drive of success to empower others that have a dream or vision that nothing is ever impossible and to know that the natural you is the best you.
