Exploring Life & Business with Sunny Angel of The Vault KC

Today we’d like to introduce you to Sunny Angel.

Hi Sunny, it’s an honor to have you on the platform. Thanks for taking the time to share your story with us – to start maybe you can share some of your backstories with our readers?
My wife, Krysti Merritt, and I witnessed COVID-19 in 2020 destroying the entertainment industry. So we thought let’s start a business to provide venues with live music, themed DJ dance nights, security and door to give venue’s a chance to survive.

We are friends with a local symphonic metal band called Black Vatican so I approached the singer/bassist Erick Ramos and asked if he wanted to participate within 6 months we started The Vault KC, LLC and had several venues booking at. Almost 2 years later and the business has grown on social media with the Facebook page having 1600 likes and as many followers with a 5.0 business rating on Facebook.

Currently, we’ve partnered with a photographer, Joe Earls, and models headed up by Atropa Belladonna. Recently, partnered with Planet Comicon Kansas City to promote and schedule upcoming Anime Cosplay shows together.
Highlights, working with owners of venues like miniBar, Westport Bowery, Sidekicks Saloon, and Mockingbird Lounge.

Opening their doors and clubs to us to provide our services and learning the ins and outs of the Nightclub business has been such a privilege. Seeing a once-isolated community of bartenders, cooks, waiters, bands, DJs, and venue owners struggle to come back and thrive reminds me of the Beatles song “need a little help from my friends.”
The entertainment industry is ever-changing and so is The Vault KC, LLC.

Trends change and we stay ahead of the curve by listening to our crowds to keep current in music choices, and themes and updating our business constantly. The next step for us is to find sponsors, supporter’s to open our own “proven concept” Nightclub.

Keeping it local, using local vendors, DJs, bands, venues, etc, earned trust and respect for us, and giving back the respect and mutual benefits has in the end been what that original idea for starting this business was all about.

Our motto evolved into “Not just another night out, it’s an experience!”

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
The rubber met the road from the very beginning having ups and downs. The smooth roads were and always will be our connections and relationships with the venues we started with, The Roxy.

Learning Facebook and other social media marketing algorithms is a curve.

Despite all the COVID-19 and price gouging gas and other related expenses that created venues to close their doors some are still alive, others unfortunately closed, yet, they all thanked us for our services and remain still our friends and mentors in this ever-changing entertainment industry.

As you know, we’re big fans of The Vault KC, LLC. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about the brand?
The Vault KC, LLC provides a complete entertainment Productions service for various venues, nightclubs, and bars. We’re known for themed DJ Anime Cosplay, Glow Party, Cyberpunk/Goth, and other specialty DJ dance party nights.

We create a flyer, Eventbrite ticket link, co-host invite for the venue, DJ and all involved, and marketing on all social media, security, and door. As well as we do cuisine lights, and decorations and give prizes at midnight for best costume, dance-off, or whatever theme is for the night.

Our complete service sets us apart from other promoters due to the venue gives us power over the whole show from start to finish. As well as being known as a 5 Star service that makes sure everyone is safe and never any drama; just a fun “experience.”

I’m most proud of the fact The Vault KC has such a great relationship and reputation the brand can be proud of and venues know when booking our services we conduct a professional show.

Any advice for finding a mentor or networking in general?
I’ve found that being honest and doing what is agreed upon with venue owners, DJs, and bands provided us to get several mentors that have/are guiding us to continue to grow as a business and individuals in a thriving community.

  • $10 per show at the door.
  • DJs are paid on the show to show basis.
  • Marketing is usually the most expensive part of putting on a show.
  • All prices are part of one package for our full services rendered.
  • End of the night after every show all parties are paid in full.
