Exploring Life & Business with Kristen Rising of Rising Construction Services

Today we’d like to introduce you to Kristen Rising.

Hi Kristen, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
When I turned 40, had a bit of a revelation that something needed to change in order for me to be truly happy. I was in an industry that allowed zero growth and realized that it was not for me anymore. I decided to get into the construction industry and fell in love. Working with different construction companies, it became clear to me that this industry desperately needed more women business owners. This amazing industry had many opportunities to offer, so one day I took that leap of faith and started Rising Construction Services, Inc. in November 2018. This year, 2021 in November we will turn 3 years old and I couldn’t be happier.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Reading this question made me kind of giggle! Smooth road, what’s that? Starting my own construction company has been the hardest thing I have ever done to date. Struggles come in all forms, for me it was not being able to find a bank that would loan me money, securing the right employees, purchasing equipment, and the dreaded COVID! With challenges comes growth, so for that I am thankful!

Great, so let’s talk business. Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
Rising Construction Services, Inc. is a union company that provides traffic & erosion control needs. What is traffic and erosion control? Our traffic division provides traffic control plans, pulling traffic and excavation permits from different municipalities. We provide the equipment that is needed to secure the work zones on our roads and highways and make sure that all field employees and pedestrians are safe. Our erosion division provides silt fence installation, hydroseeding/mulching, sod, and installation of turf mats. What sets us apart from others? I would like to think it is our service. We know the importance of being fast and efficient for our customers, time is money and we want to make sure that we can provide that service to ensure a successful project. What are you most proud brand-wise? I would say our logo and colors. Purple is our main color, this means enlighten, wisdom, and spiritual growth. This was very important to me, I wanted to ensure that our colors represented the company and to signify that it is a woman-owned company. Our logo represents the road we go down every day, either in life or the roads that we use for our daily transportation needs. Next time you are driving around and see some construction equipment, look for the purple! What do you want our readers to know about your brand, offerings, services? I want people to know that I am a person that cares deeply for my employees. They are my family and without them, this company would not exist. When you see our brand, I would like people say to themselves that they know we are true, real, know the meaning of a “Hand Shake”. If we mess up, we will own it and always make it right.

What are your plans for the future?
Plans for our immediate future, finding a commercial property that we can call “HOME”

Looking forward, planning for the ability to change people’s lives. The bigger we get the more we are able to give back to our community. Within 5 years I would like to have established an aquaponics garden for the communities that are impoverished.
