Exploring Life & Business with Graycee Reeves of Fresh As A Daisy

Today we’d like to introduce you to Graycee Reeves.

Hi Graycee, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I have always loved makeup, starting from a young age. Knowing that I really wanted to become a celebrity makeup artist! My oldest sister is a hairstylist, and while getting my hair done she asked me what my plans were – my plan being going through a makeup course and going from there. She told me to make sure I was being realistic because I do live in Kansas and I didn’t have any idea of when I would want to move to a state closer to celebrities. She told me I should look into Esthetics school because I will learn a little bit about makeup, as well as the face behind the makeup (skin) and waxing! She gave me the advice that I should try out multiple options in case makeup wasn’t what I wanted to do. Long story short, she was right and makeup is just a hobby! I love to wax and give relaxing facials, as skin is the foundation for makeup and waxing gives much better results than shaving!

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
Being an esthetician can and is a very difficult road, especially starting out. I started at Ulta as their Skin Therapist and quickly learned it was not the right fit for me. After three months, I found a new home as an esthetician in a salon and stayed for a little less than a year. A lot of struggles I found were working for or with people who did not understand my scope of practice. I constantly had to explain myself and was asked to do things that didn’t fall under my license. As well as those struggles, leaving a workplace means potentially leaving clients behind. It is very common losing 10% of clients at the very least. If you go and work for someone else, that’s not as big of a deal. If you go on your own like I did after those two workplaces, it was and is a huge deal to lose clients!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know?
I am the owner and esthetician of fresh as a daisy, located in Mission, KS. I offer full body waxing, lash & brow tinting, and relaxing facials. I am adding lash lifts to my service menu soon. I am known for my Brazilian waxes, brow waxes, and microdermabrasion facials! I believe what sets me apart is being so personable and friendly. I try my hardest to make every client of mine as comfortable as possible! I can’t have a business without them. I am most proud of how much I have grown. As a 23 years old, I never imagined myself owning a business and succeeding, even in a pandemic!

How do you think about happiness?
What makes me the happiest is spending time with family and friends and getting to know my clients! When I’m not working, I’m usually at home, where I live with my parents and little sister. I have three sisters and one brother and we are all very close! If I’m not with them, I’m with my friends. I’m not the type to go out often/stay out late, so being with my friends and talking or sitting in a room together is good enough for me! When I am working, I am so happy to see my regular and new clients! I love getting to know each and every one. My favorite thing to do is get to know people, so I believe this industry is perfect for me!
