Daily Inspiration: Meet Taylor Holmes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Taylor Holmes.

Hi Taylor, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
It all started with my father. He was the executive pastry chef at The Westin Crown Center for 22 years, after his long history there, he reopened the well-known Napoleon Bakery located in the heart of Westport. At the age of 18, I was the general manager of this location, as well as his location in Briar Cliff. We did a lot of wholesale for local restaurants and hotels.

When I turned 21, I opened my very own bakery, Piece of Cake. Which was a retail store; I specialized in Kronuts, pastries, custom and wedding cakes.

Fast forward to today; I have completely rebranded my business to Taylor Elizabeth Cakes. I have a micro studio located in Downtown KCMO.

We all face challenges, but looking back would you describe it as a relatively smooth road?
No way! My road had lots of bumps along the way and still experience some. Covid forced me to close my retail shop two months after returning from maternity leave. I was lost on what direction I wanted to go. Though this was a great time for me to rebrand and really focus on my passion, wedding cakes.

Appreciate you sharing that. What else should we know about what you do?
I specialize in luxurious custom and wedding cakes, dessert tables and so much more! I’m most proud of my creations, every design is custom to each client. I love seeing their faces when I nail their vision. I feel my attention to detail and client experience set me apart from others. I strive to have excellent client service,

We’d love to hear about any fond memories you have from when you were growing up?
Going to Disney World! I’m currently planning a trip for my daughter, she has to experience the happiest place on earth!
