Today we’d like to introduce you to Jennifer Joyce.
Hi Jennifer, we’d love for you to start by introducing yourself.
I have always loved sweets. Given a choice between dessert and an actual meal, dessert wins hands down. Sometimes I even plan what to eat around the dessert offerings. Cookies, brownies, candy, I think you get the picture. My kids are the same way, always asking for a treat. We started having more “taste tests” at our house, and thus Tasty Treats was born.
Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
A particular struggle was launching in the holiday season. I had to quickly learn to balance the demands of fulfilling customer orders in addition to the regular hustle and bustle of the holidays. I’m also always learning new concepts and techniques for cookie design. This takes time and requires a lot of patience. It’s also been very rewarding learning many things about running a business, including web design and social media.
Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I have a home-kitchen bakery specializing in decorated sugar cookies, classic and gourmet cookies. I’m proud to say that I am always willing to try new recipes and tweak existing recipes to make them the best. My cookies not only look great, but they also taste just as good! I hold high standards for everything I make and this ensures that the treats I make exceed my customer’s expectations. I like to celebrate life’s events and through Tasty Treats KC, I get to be a part of other people’s big and small celebrations.
Is there any advice you’d like to share with our readers who might just be starting out?
Don’t underestimate how much more there is to running a baking business than just making cookies! There’s a lot of behind-the-scenes work!
