Daily Inspiration: Meet Jenni Shields

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenni Shields.

Hi Jenni, so excited to have you with us today. What can you tell us about your story?
My small shop was inspired by my daughter Evie Pearl. She was diagnosed with type 1 diabetes and I needed a way to cope. I turned to creating as my outlet and three years ago, I started Evie Pearl Handmade. I instantly began to fall in love with creating handmade bows. I absolutely love creating pieces for my customers. Getting to be a part of my customer’s memories everyday and holiday means the world to me. Each year my shop has continued to grow and it has been the biggest blessing for our family.

Can you talk to us a bit about the challenges and lessons you’ve learned along the way. Looking back would you say it’s been easy or smooth in retrospect?
It has been an amazing journey along the way because I truly love doing this job. I am a previously a third-grade teacher so I enjoy learning. I’ve had to learn so many things such as how to create a following, social media, how to create an Etsy shop, how to make a website, how to create a bow subscription, how to plan out holidays way in advance and more! It has not been easy but I am so eager to learn and grow.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I am a maker & creator of handmade hair accessories. I enjoy sewing bows and creating custom clips. We specialize in helping moms accessorize their babe with our modern handmade hairpieces. I am the most proud of how much my shop has continued to grow every single year. We have come so far these past three years and I am just so excited to see where we will go. I believe what sets us apart from other shops is three things. First is our customer service. I would not be here if it weren’t for my customers and I am so grateful for them. Creating relationships with my customers is so important to me. I value each and every customer I’ve had. I love seeing their kids wear our products. Second is our quality. It is so important to me to create and deliver wonderful quality in all of our products. Third is uniqueness. I want customers to shop at Evie Pearl Handmade because our products are one of a kind.

We all have a different way of looking at and defining success. How do you define success?
Success does not happen easily. It starts with setting goals. Those goals require hard work, dedication, perseverance, studying, learning and sacrifice. When you reach your goals, I believe in celebrating your successes no matter how big or small they are.
