Daily Inspiration: Meet Jamie Lewis

Today we’d like to introduce you to Jamie Lewis.

Hi Jamie, thanks for sharing your story with us. To start, maybe you can tell our readers some of your backstories.
I’ve always had a passion for writing. I have endless comp books written with whatever streams of consciousness I had that day, and when I look back on it now I am both surprised and reminded of what I was going through at such a young age.

Having lost both of my parents by the time I was sixteen, I can remember being so protective over the photos I had with them to ensure those memories stayed intact.

This brings me to what I do now. I want to ensure your memories are intact and captured for years to come.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has definitely not been a smooth journey for me.

Establishing myself as a photographer in a field that is so vast and saturated is tough. I work to ensure a client’s experience with me is memorable and as easy to navigate as possible. I try to anticipate what I imagine they want their memories to look like.

It’s always been difficult for me to advocate for myself and my talent, the biggest hurdle was getting out of my own way and realizing my worth and value in this field.

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
I specialize in lifestyle and portrait photography. I am slowly dipping my toe into the Boudoir Photography pool as well.

There’s just something so special about showing someone who they are through my lens, instead of who society has told them to be. I think my experience is definitely authentic and real enough to carry with you long after our appointment is done.

I try to be the person I wish I had when I was younger, less self-confident, and not as outspoken as I am now.

Where we are in life is often partly because of others. Who/what else deserves credit for how your story turned out?
My biggest supporters have always been my friends and family. Hands down.

My friends have always believed in my talent and creativity more than I ever did. I wouldn’t be who I am and where I am without them. Whether it includes random photoshoots to flesh out an idea I’ve had, or recommending me to friends and family of theirs, I owe them everything.

My cousin Skyler inspires me when it comes to doing what you’re truly passionate about and doing what makes you feel good all while running a successful business.

We both love helping others and that’s what makes us feel good. He has always cheered me on and provided much mentoring in all parts of my life.
