Daily Inspiration: Meet Holdy Bee

Today we’d like to introduce you to Holdy Bee.

Hi Holdy, can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to where you are today?
I’m currently a freelance model, who grew up in the KC area. I never imagined I would be a model. It began with me not knowing how to express myself and not being able to express who I am, I rejected myself for a period, and a few years ago (2015), I got tired of worrying about what everyone thought. I wanted to be myself, so I thought to myself “is there a way to alter perspective?” I wanted to be seen for myself, and I wanted to find a way to bring self-expression into perspective.

I knew nothing about the model industry, so I asked a friend/local model for some tips, A few months later I began networking with a lot of Kansas City photographers, it allowed me to express myself and make a statement. I then started modeling for a few magazines and it thrived from there, My purpose as a model is for all people to be seen for who they are, and how they feel. I want everyone to feel confident being themselves, and I want people to have expressive freedom. Wear that dress, wear that skirt, wear whatever you want, just be you.

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
It hasn’t always been manageable, there are always ups and downs. A huge part of my career is understanding, and when things are not clear, or not conveyed it makes my job harder.

Can you tell our readers more about what you do and what you think sets you apart from others?
I’m a fashion and editorial model, I’m known for pushing boundaries with creative and artistic aspects. I’m most proud of establishing a start to embracing people for who they are. What sets me apart from others is my ability to choose who I work with and what I’m working on. It allows me to make sure what I’m trying to accomplish stays on track.

What was your favorite childhood memory?
My favorite childhood memory is waking up to muffins on the weekends and having a family breakfast
