Daily Inspiration: Meet GFM Recording Studios

Today we’d like to introduce you to GFM Recording Studios.

Alright, so thank you so much for sharing your story and insight with our readers. To kick things off, can you tell us a bit about how you got started?
We are Brian Kraemer and Nic Aguero. We met in 2016 interning for Chapman Recording and Mastering, Kansas City’s premier studio at that time. After working for only a few weeks together, we joined forces and started working at a small studio in Smithville, MO. We worked there as a partnership for two years and created GFM Modern Recording Studios, LLC, which stands for God Family Music. We then had the chance to lease a commercial recording facility in Blue Springs, MO, that was built by Steven Durr, one of the best acoustic engineers in the world. stevendurr.com. He built Disney Studios in Orlando, FL, Sony Music Nashville, and Capitol Records Nashville, just to name a few. We were very excited to get to work in this world-class facility every day of our lives. We are fortunate to have worked with major artists such as Snoop Dogg, Busta Rhymes, and Wiz Khalifa in just the first year of our commercial business. In just our second year of business, COVID-19 struck the world, and we had to adapt.

Our facility remained open for local clientele while also creating an incredible online presence with Fiverr, which allowed us to work with some amazing artists from all over the world, including Turkey, France, China, the Caribbean Islands, Australia, Africa, and more. We are now level 2 sellers on Fiverr, working up to a Top-Rated seller. With our team mindset, we’ve traversed these difficult times and even thrived through the pandemic. Together, we record, produce, mix and master audio all under one roof with the best hardware gear money can buy. This allows us to provide services to all artists, from beginners to superstars. Recently, a project was involved with won the Platinum Award for best original score and is streaming on Amazon Prime Video. We also have a client in England that was featured in Rolling Stone Magazine multiple times.

Our philosophy is to bring the “Los Angeles innovation in sound” to Kansas City and the world. We do nothing but the best work for our clients, and we serve them like family. Every song we create, we strive to create what the artist hears in their head, which is not an easy task… We absolutely love our careers and are feeling more confident than ever in our craft.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
It has been a blessed but hard road. To survive in this business, we had to think outside of the box and be very adaptable and relatable. COVID struck after only our first year of business, and we’ve had to find ways to make ourselves and our studio in-expendable. In addition to COVID, this business is very cutthroat, and with modern technology, there’s even more competition than just other commercial studios. People can now make music at home (or wherever for that matter) but there will always be a need for experts in this field. One foundational way we have kept going is our impeccable customer service and relatability, not to mention being able to make all genres of music (again with our team approach).

Thanks for sharing that. So, maybe next you can tell us a bit more about your work?
We are most proud of operating a faith-based studio that is able and willing to work with people from all walks of life. We don’t judge, we serve. We specialize in recording, producing, mixing, and mastering all genres of music. We’re known for our customer service and delivering the highest quality of product every time, whether it is a beginner or a superstar.

If we knew you growing up, how would we have described you?
We both grew up living in music. Brian’s Dad trained his musical ear since birth, and Nic’s dad is a band director that was tough on teaching him musical fundamentals at a very young age. We both played in very serious bands, and both discovered that God had a different plan for our lives. He’s taken all the gifts and talents we were engrained within our youth and now uses them to serve the music industry as recording professionals. We strive for perfection. Brian’s personality is very obsessive, while Nic’s personality is very grounded yet open-minded, which allows for us to compound our ideas in a very fluid way.
