Today we’d like to introduce you to Dax McLoughlin.
Hi Dax, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Dax McLoughlin is a beauty industry professional and the founder and owner of Luxury Brow + Skin, a permanent makeup and cosmetic tattooing studio in Kansas City, Missouri. Originally from the Republic of Panama, she immigrated to the United States when she was 16 and has been working in the beauty industry for over 15 years, including owning a med spa in Western Kansas before returning to Kansas City.
Dax opened Zen Head KC head spa in Leawood in March of 2025 inside Image Studios, then opened a second suite at the same location. In October of 2025, she opened a Zen Head location in Parkville, MO.
Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
The permanent makeup and med spa industry is heavily regulated. I’ve had to navigate complex, state-specific requirements for professional licensing, facility permits, sanitation standards, etc. in both Kansas and Missouri.
As a new business, and especially one in a cosmetic tattooing field where trust is paramount, one of my biggest initial challenges when moving from Hays to Kansas City was gaining credibility and attracting clients. I put a lot of effort into marketing, building a portfolio, and establishing a strong reputation in a competitive market like Kansas City.
It’s been challenging starting another business in addition to Luxury Brow + Skin, but I felt there was a need for a luxury head spa in the Kansas City area, and I plan to open several more locations. I believe we are set apart from others because we focus on a luxurious, holistic, and customizable relaxation experience that extends beyond basic hair care, positioning it as a destination for overall well-being.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
So I fit into all of those categories! I’m an artist/creative, a business professional/business owner of multiple ventures. I’m known for my client-focused approach and ability to create custom, often bold and defined, brow shapes. My Panamanian heritage has been an influence on my strong work ethic and dramatic artistic style. My passion is connecting with people and helping them find inner beauty and confidence.
I hope to bring Zen Head to Luxury Brow, offering a head spa/facial experience and combining the businesses at the Crossroads location.
