Conversations with Mimi (Melissa) Phillips

Today we’d like to introduce you to Mimi (Melissa) Phillips.

Hi Mimi (Melissa), can you start by introducing yourself? We’d love to learn more about how you got to today?
We at 1739 Gallery recognized the dismal representation of all “art” genres and the lack of space in which they could be included. Our vision for 1739 Gallery is a space for creatives of all types and genres. Whether that be what some consider traditional art, painting/sculpture, a cinematic/theatrical artist, musician, literary art, comedic art, the art of cuisine, the art of fitness and wellness, it is also an event space that we lease to hand-selected clientele to host their private art showcases, fitness classes, birthday celebrations, podcasts, photoshoots, workshops or social events. 1739 Gallery proudly participates in the Crossroads Art District’s First Friday every month, allowing local artist(s) and vendors to showcase their talents and products. We strive to create and maintain a new multi-use space with nothing but positive energy, good vibes, and the utmost appreciation to anyone who patronizes 1739 Gallery!

I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
The road is always a journey, lol! The struggles have not been overwhelming or overbearing because our intent is always on ‘how can we create and maintain a positive atmosphere and foster positive relationships with our clientele and artists.’ When your vision, focus, and intent are clear, it makes the destination attainable and worth any “bumps” in the road. But the “bumps” always give you gratitude and clarity. And they make for GREAT coffee table stories, lol!!!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
How much time do we have? Lol. I’m so proud to work with serial entrepreneurs! We specialize in Commercial and Residential Real Estate, Real Estate Development and Investing, Lifestyle Consulting, Lifestyle Advocate, Health and Wellness, the Fashion Industry, Brand Marketing and Developing, Personal Styling, Personal Shopping, Event Planning and Hosting, Interior Design, Art Connoisseur’s and a few others I’m 100% sure I’ve missed. I’m most proud of our tenacity, being go-getters, always finding a solution even if it’s a possibility that the solution is realizing there’s no resolve and moving forward. We don’t leave any stone unturned. Our knowledge, passion, humbleness, and humility sets us apart from others and have made us very successful. We try to be very inclusive and listen to those we work with. We genuinely want our business relationships to be harmonious and mutually successful.

Can you talk to us about how you think about risk?
Risk-taking is a necessary evil. The vulnerability, fear, and unknown keep people stagnant and, in essence, stuck. Especially if they achieve success in that space, but stepping outside of the box or taking that risk, albeit it should be a calculated risk, can take your success and happiness to the next level. If you’re passionate about what you’re doing, you’ll find a way for it to be successful!
