Today we’d like to introduce you to Jenna Warmund.
Hi Jenna, so excited to have you on the platform. So, before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
Hi there! My name is Jenna! I was born and raised in Kansas City and can’t imagine calling any other place home.
I started out making charcuterie boards for friends & family growing up. After a couple of glasses of wine and a few cheese boards later, I decided to turn it into a business. Whether you need a charcuterie board for a get-together with friends & family, a corporate event, or a wedding, More Cheese Please KC can cater to any special event you may have. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my fiancé at some of our favorite KC spots, traveling, or relaxing at home with our pups, Waldo and Layla.
I’m sure you wouldn’t say it’s been obstacle-free, but so far would you say the journey has been a fairly smooth road?
Growing a small business as a first-time entrepreneur forces you to embrace the uncomfortable. Managing social media, finances, creative direction, all simultaneously, requires flexibility, and persistence. While I’m still growing on my entrepreneurial journey, the challenges I have been able to overcome during my first two years in the small business world have taught me the importance of adopting a growth mindset and learning how important delegation can be in order to optimize your time.
As you know, we’re big fans of you and your work. For our readers who might not be as familiar what can you tell them about what you do?
Crafting the perfect charcuterie board fills me with satisfaction, knowing that it will add a pop of color, and tons of deliciousness for gatherings of friends and family all across the Kansas City area. That’s why I take time to curate the finest cheeses and freshest fruits and mix them to best suit both the eye and pallet. I love being able to create something that brings people in my community together.
We’d love to hear about how you think about risk-taking?
As I’ve been fortunate to grow the following of More Cheese Please, my fantastic customers have continued to send bigger and bigger orders my way. Recently, I worked with a local non-profit to cater their gala. Their order was twice as large as any I’d catered to previously, but I knew that if I was able to execute without a hitch, that new happy customers would come to know More Cheese Please, and I can continue to grow my business. Most recently, I made the decision to quit my full-time job in order to pursue More Cheese Please on a full-time basis. While the uncertainty weighed on my decision, in the end, I knew that I had to follow my entrepreneurial passion to continue to serve the wonderful residents of KCMO!
