Conversations with Geena Hughes

Today we’d like to introduce you to Geena Hughes.

Hi Geena, so excited to have you on the platform. So before we get into questions about your work-life, maybe you can bring our readers up to speed on your story and how you got to where you are today?
I picked up my first DSLR camera in my sophomore year of high school in 2010 and thought it would be a fun hobby. I didn’t actually purchase one of my own until 2017. The hobby turned into something I would love to make into a full time career, and I’m working towards that every day.

Alright, so let’s dig a little deeper into the story – has it been an easy path overall and if not, what were the challenges you’ve had to overcome?
Of course, the biggest obstacle has been Covid-19. I’m unable to go to concerts to shoot the show if there are no shows! Another obstacle is trying to get my foot in the door since I started “late”.

Thanks – so what else should our readers know about your work and what you’re currently focused on?
I love all kinds of photography, but my absolute favorite is concert photography. I love the energy it gives me, and you can see it in the photos, too.

What does success mean to you?
Being happy with where you are in life.
