Conversations with Brianne Cunningham

Today we’d like to introduce you to Brianne Cunningham.

Hi Brianne, please kick things off for us with an introduction to yourself and your story.
I’m a wife and mom to a tween and teen in the suburbs of KC. I am an elementary teacher during the day and love laughing and learning with my kids! Obviously, being a teacher is fulfilling, but I found myself searching for a way I could share my passions, connect with other like-minded people, and be my authentic self. Instagram was the place that I shared and connected with family and friends for over a decade. I finally realized it could be the creative outlet I’d been searching for. I shifted my mindset and content and have never looked back!

Last year when someone shared the quote, “Doubt kills more dreams than failure ever will,” I decided to get out of my own way and take the next step. I needed something that I owned and built that I was in complete control of. My lifestyle blog went live a month later!

Would you say it’s been a smooth road, and if not what are some of the biggest challenges you’ve faced along the way?
My biggest obstacle was always myself. Whether it was fear of not being good enough or fear of failing, doubt and comparison would always creep in. I worried too much about what others would think if I posted as an “influencer” or blogged about how I style a shelf. As I got older, I realized that I had nothing to lose and that comparing myself to others served no one. The only person who could craft the life that would bring me the most joy was me. And the only opinions on my character that mattered to me lived under the roof of my home. I know that I have a lot to contribute and bring to the table. I can confidently say that I am proud to wear my blogger/content creater/influencer hats!

As far as blogging, there was no training or course for starting a blog. It involved more planning, Googling and trial and error than I ever imagined! Through the headaches and frustration, I just had to keep picturing the end result I wanted. I can honestly say that I am so proud of the work I’ve put in and how accurately my blog represents me!

Alright, so let’s switch gears a bit and talk business. What should we know about your work?
I am a lifestyle content creator! On my Instagram and blog, I share about everything from travel, favorite spots in KC, and plants, to organizational tips and affordable fashion. But my favorite thing to share is my passion for design and decorating! At the beginning of this year, I started taking on clients. Since then, I have given half a dozen amazing women guidance on everything from styling bookcases and sourcing art, to personal shopping and creating furniture layouts. I love showing people how they can create a beautiful, inviting home where form meets function on any budget!

We’d love to hear about how you think about risk taking?
It’s worth it. ALWAYS.

We have to get out of our own way AND out of our comfort zones. Choose to have faith over fear. Then work to surround yourself with dreamers, encouragers, supporters, doers, and includers. If what you want is worth having, it’s worth working for!
